LOC-ON LEM Treestand

By Jason Mills
After nearly thirty years in the treestand business, the LOC-ON Company, Inc.  has a tradition of making superior treestands.   And the LEM is no exception.  Featuring a carpeted, all weather poly olefin platform, a foam padded seat, and 21 inches of leg room, the LEM is a treestand that is tough enough to handle most hunting conditions.  The LEM fits trees with diameters from 6 to 18 inches and can hold 300 lbs, which can hold all but the largest hunter.
The LEM is secured to the tree, using either a chain, rope, or the optional nylon strap.  All these secure the stand firmly to the tree.  I was able to stand on the edge of the roomy 20"X27" platform and jump up and down on the edge.  I do not recommend it, but it will hold your weight.  And through all this jumping, the stand didn't even offer to want to make a sound.  In fact, the only sound you can hear when you stand to take a shot is your feet moving on the carpet.  The chain did represent a problem in the wind, but a smaller hook on the bottom of the stand provided a nice tie off point.  The stand has plenty of leg room, and I even fell asleep in it the third day of testing.

Note1 = Lowest Rating,
10 = Highest Rating

ASSEMBLY - 10
The LEM comes fully assembled.  All you have to do is unfold it and put it in your favorite tree and your ready to go.
COMFORT - 9
The LEM is a very comfortable treestand.  I was able to fall asleep in it.  However, if you don't sit in the seat right, the seat bar digs into your legs.
STABILITY - 10
Sound as a rock.

PLATFORM - 9
The platform is large enough to turn all the away around in, even at full draw.  It is made of a tough type of plastic, which will hold most anything you could want to place in it.  On the downside though, the carpet presented a problem when wet.  It made a squishing sound when I shifted my feet.  It did dry quickly however.  Also, there is no place to install a gun or bow holder.  Which means you either have to hold it all day, or drill a hole in the stand.
PORTABILITY - 8
The LEM is very light, weighing in at only 11 pounds with a chain.  However, there is no carrying strap, and the instructions say to use the chain with the supplied small hook.  This works reasonably well, for short distances.  But upon a longer hike of about 2 miles, the chain started to dig into my shoulder, even with an amount of padding similar to hunting clothes.

QUALITY - 10
Overall, the LEM is a quality treestand that should fit the needs of any hunter, from beginning to a seasoned veteran.  Some improvements I could recommend would be a more comfortable shoulder strap, and a gun/bow holder or a hole to install one in.  Included in the package is a detailed brochure containing instructions, detailed warnings and safety guards.
I look forward to the many hunts in the LEM stand, and I know that if I miss the deer, it will be the shooter, not the treestand.  On a final note, please remember to wear a safety belt.
