#1- Take your cotton ball and douse a little of your deer scent on it until it is moist. " Don't use to much!"

#2-  Place the cotton ball into your container.

#3- Place string in your pocket.

When we deal with deer scent this is usually how the story goes. We get to our favorite hunting site and while we are standing next to our vehicle we douse a little of the scent on our boots and head for our stand. We climb up the tree, sit and wait.

The problem with this is that if a deer were to sniff your trail and notices it starts by a vehicle and travels though the woods up a tree, over to your buddies stand, ect. it's bound to get a little suspicious.

So here is what we do:
Take that string out of your pocket and tie it around the cotton ball that has scent on it. The other end of the string can be held in your hand like your pulling a dog behind you, or tied to your boot.

Then walk to your stand. This has many advantages.

We can now control where we put the scent. It no longer starts by the vehicle.

You are covering up your scent trail with deer scent as you drag it behind you.

And your saving money at the same time because your using just enough scent to get the cotton ball moist.
Plus you don't have to worry about over using scent and driving the deer away.

When you get to your stand hang the cotton ball about 5 feet above the ground so the wind will carry the scent throughout the woods.

What you will need:
  • An old film container.
  • A cotton ball
  • 2 yards of sturdy string.

  • Your favorite deer scent.
