Plans for the 2002
"Brenda Valentine Ladies Bowhunting School and Hunt"

Due to the success and popularity of the 2001 event, The "First Lady of Hunting" , Brenda Valentine has made plans for the 2002 sessions. This years' events will include both a beginner and advanced bowhunting experience for "women only".

Beginning lady bowhunters, or those who want to be, should mark their calender now and reserve a place at this one-of-a-kind event. The beginner class is scheduled for Sept. 19-22. Arrival is on the afternoon of the 19th and departure is following the morning hunt and lunch on the 22nd . The number of students has been reduced to "four per session. This assures the ultimate in personal instruction for each person on the range and in the field. Classroom training commences on Thursday evening with shooting range exercises on Friday followed by more classroom studies in the evening. Saturday morning is devoted to deer scouting, woodsmanship and treestand safety. This portion of the school is jam-packed with activity and information. Each student should be prepared to spend many hours absorbing exciting new tricks and terms. The in-the field portion of the school starts on Saturday afternoon and continues on Sunday morning when each person will actually have the opportunity to hunt whitetail deer on Brenda's private farm. The cost for this opportunity is $1200. A non- returnable deposit of $600 holds one of the few select spots.

For the more experienced lady bowhunter, Brenda is offering an agenda with less range and classroom emphasis and more time spent hunting. This session is scheduled from October 3rd to the 6th . A brush-up on shooting skills and safety issues will be covered on Thursday evening and Friday morning. Hunting begins on Friday afternoon and continues through noon Sunday. The cost for this exclusive pre-rut hunt is $1200 with a non-returnable deposit of $600 required. Only four hunters are accepted for this occasion.

All accommodations are included at both events. Participants are responsible only for their travel, Tennessee hunting license, and personal hunting equipment. Typically the weather is mild and the trees are beautiful at this time. The atmosphere at Brenda's school is very relaxed and family oriented. The hunting areas are highly productive with strategic food plots, agricultural areas and natural food sources available year round for the high population of deer. Each area is prescouted with comfortable treestands and/or groundblinds in place. At the 2001 school two ladies took their first bucks while shot opportunities ran almost 100%. Hunters should come prepared to make friends, learn more about hunting than you ever thought possible, tag a whitetail and foremost, to have a fun experience.

1. ALABAMA - Does and Bows, Oct. 18-21. This is the one that started it all. The annual Does and Bows hunt started seven years ago with five women, and now attracts about 20 women. The outside terrain ranges from oak groves to lush green fields. The "indoor" terrain is lots of polished wood, beautiful antiques and game mounts. Hunters can arrive early for an optional "Deer Hunting 101 Clinic," which covers everything from shooting from a tree stand and trailing to broadhead selection and shot placement. Hunt cost is $700, license $127. Contact White Oak Plantation, 5215 County Road 10, Tuskegee AL 36083, phone 334-727-9258 or email whiteoakhunts@mindspring.com.

2. ILLINOIS - Heartland Outfitters, two hunts, Oct. 12-14 and Oct. 18-20. No more than eight ladies per hunt.
