Kandi Kisky
After meeting Travis Turner, AKA "T-Bone," of Realtree, he asked me if I would like to meet a fellow women hunter that was doing a wonderful job promoting women in the hunting industry. I agreed, so he introduced me to Kandi Kiski. I had a little prior knowledge about Kandi from watching her hunting videos. However, after talking to Kandi, I felt that she was truly interested in promoting women hunters and family values in the industry. This is why I am nominating Kandi for featured Lady Bowhunter. Here are just a few of her impressive achievements as a woman archer to date.
Kandi, along with her husband Don, started Kiski Productions in 1998. The Kiski videos, "Whitetail Extreme", are jam-packed with record class, exciting deer hunts. Kandi, Don, and guests, including other women bowhunters are featured in the video series. Every whitetail Kandi has harvested has been caught on film. Not many hunters can say that! Even Kandi herself is not sure the number of deer she has harvested without going back and counting them all. Her guess is around 20-22 whitetails, with her biggest one a 175" that she hunted for five years before taking it. To date her trophies have scored 168", 165", 154", 140", a broken beam 170", plus numerous 125 to 140 class deer.
Kandi has been hunting for over twelve years and has been featured on film and in print for Mossy Oak, Realtree, Drury Outdoors, Kiski Productions, The Wild Outdoors, North American Whitetail, Deer and Deer Hunting, Whitetail Hunting Strategies, Realtree Magazine, Cabela’s, and "The Thrill of the Hunt," by Kathy Etling.
In addition to pursuing world class deer with a bow, Kandi enjoys the muzzleloader and turkey hunting. "I enjoy what I do and strive to send a positive message for women bowhunters. I don’t approve of the way the industry has taken on the sexy and wild look. I want to be considered a serious hunter. Hunting has become a passion in our family and we take it real seriously," says Kandi.
Kandi and her husband Don have been happily married and hunting together for twelve years and they have one son, Kaleb. Not only is she a successful hunter, she is a devoted mom and enjoys PTA and Little League. While she continues to pursue the whitetail with a bow, she is devoted to carrying the torch for her fellow women hunters. Without a doubt, we have only seen a glimpse of Kandi’s passion for hunting.
