Bows from Alpine
Archery
I
received the Alpine Fatal
Impact and Doug Crabtree got the Alpine SS
Stealth Force. I received the bow two days before leaving on the
hunt so I was very pleased that it was already in tune out of the box.
I dropped the draw weight from 70# to 64#. Then I shot 4 arrows from the
bow I have been hunting with and the new Alpine bow. I was definitely surprised
that all the arrows from the Fatal Impact penetrated 8-10 inches further
into the same target !!! That's impressive.
When I shot my gobbler
I was totally blown away by the Fatal Impact's speed and power.
My arrow hit the gobbler like a ton of bricks. The tom dropped in it's
tracks. Doug Crabtree's shot had the same result. www.AlpineArchery.com
Broadheads from
Barrie Archery
We
both received Barrie Archery's Rocky
Mountain Snyper. Frankly, when I first looked at the broadhead
I was not enthusiastic about it. The Snyper is a 2-blade expandable and
it had an O-ring. I would have rather hunted with a 3-blade expandable
without an O-ring.
Now ... enter the gobbler.
When the Snyper broadhead hit my gobbler the bird's wings popped into the
air and it hit the ground, never to move again!!! I've shot a few wild
turkeys before that went down right away but they always flopped around.
This bird was rendered lifeless ... instantly ... by this broadhead.
The arrow penetrated the
gobbler, which isn't surprising. That is normal penetration at 10 yards
on a wild turkey, at least from my experience. I picked up my arrow and
looked at the gobbler to inspect the wound.
Holly Cow !!!
The Snyper made an unbelievably
wide cut through the gobbler. Not to be gross, but I could easily slide
all my fingers into both the entry and exit wounds. Doug Crabtree's wound
was equally large plus the broadhead cut the left wing bone completely
in half.
One last observation, both
of our broadheads were still sharp enough to shave hair off my arm!
My initial reservations were
totally gone. Results are the name of the game.
Its toughness and penetration,
plus the exceptional cutting power make the Snyper a great broadhead for
wild turkeys. www.RockyMtBroadheads.com
