the hunting industry also were found throughout the exhibit hall where
400 booths filled with the latest in outdoor gear and collectibles were
on display. Wildlife art and crafts contests were held throughout the weekend—with
many of the items available at convention auctions as well.
The

presenting dozens of awards to its grassroots volunteers, wildlife professionals
and corporate partners who have paved the way for the continued management
of wild turkey populations.
The
NWTF’s convention was fun for people of all ages—including hundreds of
elementary school students from area schools—who learned about wildlife
conservation and turkey hunting at a special JAKES program Friday, Feb.
22. JAKES stands for Juniors Acquiring Knowledge Ethics and Sportsmanship
and is the NWTF’s program for youth members 17 and younger.

About the NWTF: In 1973 when
the National Wild Turkey Federation was founded, there were an estimated
1.3 million wild turkeys and 1.5 million turkey hunters. Thanks to the

today there are an estimated 5.4 million wild turkeys and approximately
2.6 million turkey hunters. Since 1985, more than
$135 million NWTF and cooperator
dollars have been spent on over 15,000 projects benefiting wild turkeys
throughout North America.
The NWTF is a 390,000-member
