Steve Bartylla
BUCKS &
BEARDS DEERHUNT 2000
The morning was spent recording the most detailed replay of the events that had occurred the afternoon before. One of the nice things about making educational videos, as opposed to the shoot `em up variety, is that the kill is not the draw, the teaching is. With that said, we still believe it is important to include a harvest or two at the end of our videos. After all, we tell the viewers that all these things work, the least we can do is prove that they do. With the video portion concluded, Brent earned his keep by shooting a bunch of photos. We packed up and took the buck back to camp. After concluding the busy work, we showered and headed out. Now I am suddenly the cameraman and it is Brent’s turn at the plate. It was extremely windy, raining and in the low 30s as we climbed into the stands I had hung at the dry creek crossing the day before. We froze, but did see a nice 2 ½ yr old buck and had a family group pass through. No matter what the conditions it is always a good hunt when you have deer within bow range.
