Fred Interviews Wildlife Artist Jack Paluh

Turkey Hunting Tips From Jack Paluh
(by Fred Lutger)

Fred Lutger interviews Wildlife Artist Jack Paluh

Jack has turkey hunted for 25 years and is a long time supporter of the NWTF. In the last couple of years he has seen a tremendous growth in the wild turkey population throughout the country. Jack contributes this to the NTWF through their education programs for food plots, habitat restoration and supplemental feedings.

Jack's best turkey hunting secret is the proper set up location. Jack contributes 90% of turkey hunting success to "location, location, location." He feels proper setup will out perform both calling and decoying.

Jack notes that in the last couple of years the ammo companies have developed better shot and turkey loads. Also the decoy manufacturers are making more realistic decoys. Both these improvements contribute to better hunter success.

Jack added, "Hunters are not out to eradicate the wild turkeys, it is just the opposite. They have contributed the time and money to make the  population growth possible."

For 12 years Jack has donated his wildlife art to the NWTF for their fund raising banquets.

Jack Paluh resides in rural Pennsylvania. Jack's only formal art education was at a local trade high school. There, under the guiding hands of local talented teachers and artists, he excelled and was encouraged to pursue the art field. He did and this year celebrates his 25th year as a full time artist.

HIs ideas are inspired by hunted. He has studied the Eastern woodland indians and is famous for his paintings depicting their hunts.

Jack named his newest paintings the Hunting Heritage Series. He unites kindred spirits of past and modern day hunters. The Spirit of the Hunt (below) was National Wild Turkey Federation 2005 Banquet Print.

His newest print called "The Guardian" is being being raffled off at this year's NWTF fund raising banquets. Look for Jack Paluh's art prints at your local NWTF banquets. Visit Jack's web site at www.jackpaluh.com. And meet Jack in person at next year's NWTF Convention & Sport Show. You will be delighted and inspired by Jack's stories and art. I certainly am.
