AIR-REST Arrow Rest
A new product that got my
attention was an arrow rest called the Air-Rest.
You've never seen anything like it. The rest has an opening in the middle
and the arrow floats in the center of the open space. The arrow does not
contact the Air-Rest in any way. This rests has no moving parts, no friction
and makes no noise. American
Whitetail the target making company is the exclusive distributor for
this innovative new product.
X-Scent
I was glad to see that X
SCENT was at the show. This
new Scent Elimination System is a departure from carbon clothing. X SCENT
uses a silver-ion technology that eliminates the source of odor by preventing
bacteria growth. During the recent deer season I purchased their Base Layer
long sleeve T-Shirt and Pants. They were super good fitting thermal underwear
and they zapped my scent. They were inexpensive too. Keep your eye on this
one, it's gonna be big.
Wildlife Research Center
The new Trophy Leaf
is a scent dispenser that has the scent impregnated in the plastic "leaf."
It comes in a variety of scents including estrus, pine, earth, acorn and
elk-fire. A new #1 Select Estrus Combo pack combines the sexual attraction
of #1 Select Estrus and the Quik-Wick dispenser. And the Buck Hunter Combo
has Scent Killer, #1 Select Estrus and Key-Wicks dispensers. These are
from Wildlife Research Center.
Gateway Feathers
Quality arrow fletching
is what Gateway Feathers
is all about. The new solid color additions of Denim, Lemon Lime and Tangerine
pop right off the walls, which is saying something because there are a
lot of eye catching feathers in this extensive line of solid color, barred
and camo arrow fletching.
INNERLOC BROADHEADS
Innerloc
introduced new H2O Bowfishing Arrows and Points. The Innerloc bowfishing
arrows include the GLOW Max glow in the dark arrow for night fishing; the
GLASS Max premium grade fiberglass arrow; and the HYBRID Max composite
arrow featuring a fiberglass core bonded to a super tough aluminum wrapped
exterior. The new 2 and 3 blade GRAPPLE Points and GATOR Grapple point
are creatively designed for more cutting and holding power than any other
fish point. And the Tip houses a special vibration dampening "insert" that
eliminates loosening when holding the fish or gator.
ThermaCELL
Two years ago, on a turkey
hunt in Florida, my guide pulled out a ThermaCELL
and in minutes the our blind went from a full house of mosquitos to none
whatsoever. At the show I saw the new ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Lanterns
for camping or outdoor gatherings. They run off mosquitos, black flies
and no see-ums in the daylight or at night and the lanterns add a soft
glow to the area after dark. Plus, the new ThermaSCENT scent dispenser
heats any deer lure or scent releasing a fresh scent into the air.
Arctic Shield
"Keeping You Warm" is on
the logo for Arctic
Shield. They really mean it. Their focus is to keep us comfortable
from 50 degrees to bitterly cold subzero temperatures. Their outerwear
uses new technologies that are water proof, wind proof, breathable. and
of special interest to us bowhunters, have odor control. The garments capture
body heat and stop cold air penetration with a thin multi-layered heat
resistant thermal barrier named RE-tan.

Bow-Tech - Two Bows In One!
One of the "must stops"
for me was BowTech.
Gene Shands and Margaret Knupp took me to the bow testing line to shoot
two new bows for 2006: the Tribute and Allegiance. Gene explained that
all 2006 bows are available with two modules: one is for increased speed
and the other is for an ultra smooth draw. I shot both bows with both modules.
The Smooth module was my
favorite. I've never shot a bow with such a comfortable draw. It shot plenty
fast too. (Smooth cam is IBO rated at 312-320 and Speed cam IBO is 320-328.)
All 2006 BowTech bows have
a new Binary Cam system. Heretofore, all cam systems
have been anchored to the
opposing limbs. But the Binary Cam anchors the limbs to each other -- so
they function as a smooth and seamless single unit that is always in balance.
This has never been done before.
The Tribute has new limbs
called "beyond parallel" and a long riser. It is smooth, fast and quiet.
Allegiance is a high performance bow for bowhunting. Equalizer is the short
draw model. The 40" Constitution and 36" Old Glory are designed for finger
or release shooters. TomKat is a 31" bow.

Priced Bows
Three original Diamond
Bows introduced last year, the Victory, Triumph and Rapture return
lighter and with enhanced aesthetics. The new Diamond Lite is for smaller
framed archers who have a shorter draw length. Plus, three very popular
single-cam bows from the BowTech brand are added: the Liberty, Justice
and Rascal. Diamond bows provide the quality and performance demanded by
the value-minded archer.
TrailTimer Gets Digital
One of the pioneers of game
monitors, TrailTimer,
introduced it's new Digital model, the EZ-CAM Plus 500 Digital. The unit
was designed totally by TrailTimer to take high quality, digital pictures
24 hours a day or daytime only video. It has an On/Off switch, IR motion
dectection, SD card media, 2X digital zoom, USB cable and CD ROM/driver
discc. The rugged, lockable gasket sealed housing protects the camera and
electronics. Time or date stamping can be turned on or off.
VENOM Peep Sight System
I've used the VENOM
Peep Sight System and I sincerely like it and shoot better with
it. Rich Walton introduced me to Bill Connelly, the inventor of the new
peep sight system. Bill put a lot of thought into this one. The Peep is
molded in "Horizon Blue" polycarbonate. This unique color is Optically
Eutropic and easy on the eye by allowing the pupil to adjust more rapidly
in the critical seconds between the draw, acquiring the target and the
release. The Tether is a solid Everlastomer material that is durable and
highly elastic.
Evolved Habitats
Premium food plot seed for
Deer and Wild Turkey are developed to produce more palatable, high protein
