Products At The 2005 Show - Part 1
An interesting new item that caught my eye was the Gum-O-Flage Scent Prevention System. It is chewing gum for deer hunters. The ingredients of chlorophyl and pine oil kill your breath odors. As a bowhunter who has chewed a ton of chlorophyl pills and brushes his teeth with (ugg) baking soda I am good to go to try this new product out. Boot covers and long gloves from Elimitrax were talked up by several people I know at the show. Steve Bartylla told me he goes to and from his (numerous) stands without alerting deer when he uses them. One dealer told me I was nuts but I think the Deer View Mirror is a no brainer addition for my treestand day pack. On several stands I have small mirrors rigged so I can keep track of what's behind me. Mine use duct tape and fence wire. These mirrors mount easily. I gotta have some of these. Innerloc Broadheads has three new additions to their line of tough, accurate broadheads. A 125 grain Stainless Steel broadhead. A new 4 blade broadhead. And the one I've got my eye on, a 2 blade EXP model expandable. The first expandable I used was a 2 blade and it was a killer that shot accurate and produced short blood trails time after time on deer, bear and hogs. The market moved on to more blades and fancy gizmos. Welcome back 2-blade. When ScentLok joined forces with GoreTex I figured they would do bowhunters right and bring garment design for us up to speed. The new parkas and rainwear on display were top notch looking, as good a design as the backpackers North Face any day. A display of Mathew's new Heritage Bows was very impressive. The craftsmanship of these recurve and longbows is reminiscent of the Fred Bear days. Barrie Archery's Snyper series of broadheads has grown again with the new XP3. It is very low profile and because it is a Rocky Mountain Broadhead it has been tested and is ready for the task of taking big game. Xtreme Scents new large bottles of scent for corn, apple and molasses are right on. Also the new packaging of their scent elimination spray and deodorant is a plus for their product line. Essential Gear changed their logo identifier to eGEAR. Two lanterns were on display in the New area. At their booth they had every high tech flashlight known to man. I bought their competition to the battery eating Sure-Fire light I threw away last season. The eGEAR one lasts 80 times longer per new set of batteries and it is brighter. Plus I bought a camp lantern and some color pinch lights. Paris Manufacturing Co. has starter Bow & Arrow Sets for Kids. They are eye catchers in their packaging and sure to attract some youth archers and bowhunters to our ranks. Spiritual Rocket fuel is what Ted Nugent calls his coffee line Nuge Java. The guy is always into something new. And good cup of coffee is always appreciated. Montana Black Gold had further improvements to their Dusk Devil bowsight line and the new SkyLite featuring twisted fiber optics. Peel-Scrape has sticky back dye cut camo shapes that you can stick to your bow, bowquiver or your face and hands. Ever since CarboMask disappeared I've been looking for something to replace it. I'm gonna give this a try. Charlies Own Camo Latex Gloves -Scent Free and Camouflage latex gloves. This guy ought to make a pile of money. On his web site CharliesOwn.com I found plenty of uses: putting up treestands & treesteps, deterring biting insects, field dressing, protection against CWD and West Nile and handling scents and lures. If you don't have a good, portable seat in a ground blind you can't stay in the woods day after day. The problem with every folding seat i've tried is that, after use, the legs bend or the fabric or seams tear. The All Terrain Seat by RyWar Enterprises has plastic seats that are light weight and portable. They have potential to be tough enough for the job and I bought two of these. Kwiki Kwiver's new KWIK-3 is the smallest, lightest bowquiver you can put on your bow. Carbon arrows are not a problem with this quiver, even the new small diameter Easton AXIS and Beeman HIT MAX. The new Lite-4 is a very low profile, streamlined quiver for 4 arrows. And, as always, each quiver is a quality item. BowTech is a major
player in the high tech bow world. The new Allegiance is so smooth shooting
it didn't move in my hand when I shot it. And the new Equalizer BINARY
CAM System had it smoking upwards of 320fps. No jump, nothing. A great
new bow. And the new PBR
Limited Edition of 1,000 signed by BowTech sponsored rodeo champ Tony
Mendes is sure to be a hit also.
