26, 1999 - Friday @ NFAA Indoor Nationals.
JimboTX and I are in Tulsa, OK at the NFAA Indoor Nationals. We're gonna see how the real bow shooters do it. I'll also be looking for some folks to talk bowhunting with. Heck, maybe Turtle or Bob Rob or Gary Todd will be there and we can party tonight. Any bowhunting.net chatters up here? (There were. I ran into the original Kodiak from Alaska, Chris from MN and a couple of others that I didn't get the chat name for.) Friday Afternoon. JimboTX and I went to Frank Pearson's shooting seminar. What an eye opener. I've been shooting a bow since I was 8 years old. I learned more about it today than during my whole life. Doug Shanklin of Spot Hogg told me there were 900 shooters and over 70 archery exhibitors. Tomorrow the shooters qualify and Sunday they are flighted according to Saturday's scores. It's 11:05pm, so I guess you know how much partying there was to do here. It starts with "z", ends with an "o", and rhymes with "zero". But that's ok, we visited with quite a few folks and had a pleasant evening. March 27, 1999 - Saturday @ NFAA Indoor Nationals. Today I saw a bow shooting machine called the Hooter Shooter. A company named Spot Hogg makes it and I've never seen a more effective way tune a bow and arrows. You can set, sight and shoot this gadget shoot just like you shoot, it is amazing. I asked the tech dude, Cabe Johnson, if he had ever shot broadheads with it. Wow, had he ever. He blew me away with facts. Look for a major article on this soon. March 28, 1999 Sunday @ NFAA Indoor Nationals. The NFAA gave me a disk with the scores on it, but it wouldn't boot. They are going to email them to me so we should have them posted as soon as I receive them. JimboTX and I are checking out of the hotel but we will hang around the shoot for awhile longer. The Shootoff @ NFAA Indoor Nationals. Seven men went to the shooting line, they were tied for first place in the men's pro division: Jim Butts, Terry Ragsdale, Mike Braden, Dave Cousins, Tony Clemm, George Ryles and Marv Batliner. They shot 2 rounds and 6 shooters were left. Then they shot one arrow at a time and if an arrow touched the line around the "X" you were out. Tension was very pretty high on every arrow shot, even among the crowd of spectators. One arrow each and 5 were left standing. One more arrow apeice and Dave Cousins won the pro men's division. It was cool, Dave is a young dude, and he can really take the pressure. Christy Brisco (I think she is 17) won the pro women's division. Congratulations Dave and Christy, you are the National NFAA Indoor champions for 1999. You done good. The disk that NFAA gave me Sunday (with the scores) wouldn't boot. They are going to email them to me so we should have them posted tomorrow or Tuesday. |
