RICK PHILIPPI

As a teenager I started my bowhunting career with a recurve bow and shot one for years. Eventually I switched to a High Country Compound and am presently on their pro staff. The past four years I have been a member of the Sticks N' Limbs Bowhunting Team. For the last seven years I have been a regular contributor to Bowhunting News, Western Bowhunter and the Lone Star Bowhunter's monthly publication.

I am probably best known for being an outdoor writer. There is nothing more fulfilling than sharing my bowhunting experiences with fellow bowhunters. Many hunters don't get the opportunities that I do when it comes to going on a lot of hunts. I hope by reading some of my stories it helps with their hunting needs when they go on one of those hunts of a lifetime. Hopefully, it gives them some advice than puts the odds in their favor. Currently, I reside in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas. I am married and we have two children. I am in the home building business in the DFW metroplex.

To me, the most challenging and elusive critter to bowhunt for is the wild turkey. To date I have taken six gobblers. I swear turkeys have eyes in the back of their heads. The whole key to bagging a Tom turkey is camouflage and making slow decisive moves. Recently I had an unbelievable experience while bowhunting these challenging birds. I invite you to read about it in bowhunting.net in my column, Bowhunting With Rick Philippi. It's called Starring Gobblers.
