RECOMMENDED PUBLICATIONS FOR YOUR READING ENJOYMENT.
If you are an active bowhunter looking for information about the sport you can obviously come to Bowhunting.Net. But I thought I would present here magazines that cover the sport of bowhunting. All feature good editorial, how-to articles, information on technique, products, skills, success stories and general information on how you can shoot or hunt better. While there are hundreds of other publications that cover bowhunting/archery, these devote 100% of their editorial to it. I will also tell you when or if these publications are coming on-line with Bowhunting.Net. Bowhunting Publications.

ROGER RAGLIN & BKS VIDEOS I have seen quite a few hunting videos over the years, some good, some, well, not so good. We welcomed a new advertiser to the site last month and I just want to say a few things about Roger Raglin. He has been a friend for years and possibly one of the two most dynamic people in the industry. The other being Ralph Cianciarula (who, along with wife Vicki, will be writing a column for us in the near future). Roger brings to our sport the rare qualities that make us all human beings, he is warm, genuine and exciting. Roger brings a fresh excitment and a sense of humor to what some consider 'serious business'. Watching Roger on film is a lesson in bowhunting and a lesson in life. Here is a man who works hard to bring the excitment and challenge of bowhunting to the public and relays the exuberance that every kill should provide. Roger's videos make us all proud to be bowhunters. If you haven't purchased one of Roger Raglin's videos, go to his page and get one. He makes some incredible shots but even more, he makes bowhunting fun.

While you're looking through this issue of BOWHUNTING WORLD you may also want to check out the broadhead article. A number of top broadheads were really put through their paces. The litmus test was shooting through a 55 gallon steel drum. The winner? the new 'Ti-100' Titaniumn broadhead from BARRIE Archery. What an awesome head, went through the drum and came out looking like it was just taken out of the package. The other guys looked like they had been through a war. This new 'Ti-100' is going to be pricey and in limited supply but as the ad says, It may be the last broadhead you ever have to buy'. After reading the BOWHUNTING WORLD test I am sure you'll be heading down to your local Pro Shop and putting in your order.

1997 Is Here And There Is Going To Be Lots Of NEW Stuff For Bowhunters.
Here's A Sample Of What You Can Expect

NEW SKY ARCHERY. The Master, Earl Hoyt, the most respected bowyer in the world is introducing a take-down version of the popular ROGUE Long Bow. According to Earl, the ROGUE, due to it's looks, feel and performance has been a tremendous seller for SKY. So look for this new model, the ROGUE 'TD' some time in early Jan. Earl is also working on a new hunting recurve. I should have the detail very soon. If you are a traditional shooter you know about Earl Hoyt and if you are thinking about a new bow, wait for these. You'll be able to buy that too, right here!
WHAT’S HOT FOR ‘ALPINE ARCHERY’ THIS YEAR?
1997 Is Going To Be a Catapulting Year For This Innovative Leader In The Archery Industry!
ALPINE ARCHERY, always known for quality and innovation, is starting out strong for 1997 with a number of major improvements . Leading off there is a new Split Limb design mounted in their new, innovative ‘Inverse Twin’ Limb Pocket System. Also new for ’97 will be several model bows sporting Realtree’s new ‘EXTRA’ camouflage pattern.
The new 1997 ALPINE bow line, one of the strongest of the year, will offer a future generation machined riser, high performance cams, new limb designs and much , much more. For those looking for some new excitement in bows, ALPINE will showcase five that are sure to have an impact at the Pro Shops. New to the bow line will be the ‘TETON LITE, and it’s twin, a target model, the ‘FREESTYLER 3D’ also new are the ‘SUNDANCE’, CLASSIC HUNTER’ and ‘RIDGE RUNNER’. Each model offers something new and special for today’s, serious archer.
From the economy minded bowhunter to the performance minded target archer and from beginner to Pro, ALPINE has a bow for you in their 1997 line. See your local Pro Shop today for details on this incredible new bow line from ALPINE ARCHERY.
FINE-LINE. You know about the incredible 'ULTRA-GLO' Crosshair Fiber optic Bowsight. this sight has those fiber optics actually in the crosshairs, neat stuff. Well now they are out with the second version, a Fiber Optic Pin Sight. You can read about that one farther down the page. Well the word is they are also working on a new Fiber Optic Scope. One thing is for certain, if FINE-LINE does it, it will be done right.
LOC-ON. What can you do to beat the leader? Not much. Seems LOC-ON is always a step ahead of everyone. This year will see a few improvements on the best selling 'HIGH STYLE' and the auto-leveling 'CONTENDER' Well they are also coming out with a new climber. Look for the name, you can't buy better.
ROBINSON LABS. Bill Robinson started the NO Scent revolution and the SCENT SHIELD formula remains the most effective. I know there is a lot of competition out there friends but take it from me, when you spend your money and depend on a product to work in the field you have to be confident that product is working. SCENT SHIELD works. Well for '97 they will be offering a scent eliminator you swallow, (No, don't drink SCENT SHIELD) their new 'SCENTABS' are in pill form and taken to eliminate body odor from the inside out. 'FALL BLEND' was a terrific hit and this year you will be able to buy 'FALL BLEND CLOTHES WASH' The GEL LURES have been a tremendous hit for a number of reasons and 'WILD HOG' estrus sow urine GEL is new for '97.
TREBARK. You can't ever say enough about 'the Father of Camo', Jim Crumley. TREBARK, while not being able to outspend the other in advertising, he has continued as the leader because his camo works. Well last year he teamed up with Kelly Cooper and introduced 'TRAIL COVER' What a hit that one is. Now for '97 Jim has teamed up with Kevin Carlile of TIMBER GHOST and the result is 'SNIPER'. I have some and can tell you, it looks GREAT! (Now, if I can only find the time to try it out on game). At any rate, look for it. I am sure you are going to like it.(Check out this column for a Press Release)
BRACKLYNN The worst tragedy that can befall us is to lose a loved one and when BRACKLYNN President Ken Lynn passed away a few months back we all suffered his loss. While the industry lost a warm, compassionate man, no one felt the pain more than Ken's family. Kens wife Bonita has taken on the company Ken loved so much and I know everyone will do what they can to help this lovely lady continue with what Ken started. For '97 BRACKLYNN is offering their new 'E'LIMB'INATOR' TRAIL SAW. I've covered this amazing Saw in my column but I've use one and can tell you, you will never use another saw for trimming branches again. It cuts 80% faster than normal saws because the teeth are sharp on three edges, front, back and point. They are also in line due the tapered blade. Take my word, go buy one as fast as you can. The only saw that out cuts this baby is a chain saw.
CAROLINA NORTH this subsidary of LOC-ON has been carefully built under the watchful eye of President Kent Southard and their hallmark product the 'ROPE RATCHET' has been setting sales records. Well they have just finished their newest (covered in my column) the 'POWER RATCHET' If you have ever tried to fight those web types this one will set you free. Even I can work it. Go to your closest LOWES or HOME DEPOT, ACE etc. Ask for it. If they don't have them 'throw a tantrum' YOU WILL THANK ME LATER!
SIGHT MASTER I know most everyone really hates it when you come up with an idea only to have some one 'borrow' it. Well Everyone knows SIGHT MASTER invented the 'ONE TOUCH-ONE SIGHT' principle and you probably know about the 'other' guy who 'borrowed' it. Well it all boils down to loyality and good sense. SIGHT MASTER has a better product and for '97 they are upgrading all their sights to make them an even better buy. The MASTER HUNTER will go with a MASTER VIEW Scope while the PRO MASTER and their top model the PRO ELITE will offer the new STARBURST 'XL/ Fiber Optic Scope. They also will come with two new camo finishes, an 'elevation' micro adjust and a neat little thing called a 'SHOCK MASTER' which acts like a shock absorber to keep everything from getting broken or loose. I don't care if you only hunt or what ever, you need one of these if you are shooting a high impact, fast, light arrow set up. Trust me. Get one.
GOLDEN KEY-FUTURA Has there ever been a company that just keeps coming up with ideas? I don't think so. The Troncosos are amazing. If if it's an Arrow Rest. It's Golden Key. Overdraws, GK. If you want and Arrow Holder, yep, GK. They make Release Aids, Broadheads, Stabilizers, etc, etc,. I understand they will be coming out with about 17 yeah, 17 new products for next year. Stay tuned.
PRO RELEASE The Trophy Hunter remains one of the best selling Release Aids and the PRO ROLLER beats any Release I have used. If you shoot a Release Aid and it isn't a PRO ROLLER, you aren't shooting your best. New this year is also BLACK LIGHTENING and WHITE LIGHTENING Bow Wax. WHITE LIGHTENING contains Silicone for strings and BLACK also contains GRAPHITE and SILICONE and you can use this one on anything that rubs. Stay tuned, there is more coming from PRO RELEASE.
RIDGELINE If you shoot, work around heavy equipment or hunt, you will want to try these electronic hearing protection/enhancement systems. PROEARS owns the Pro Shooting circuit. They are fairly new so haven't been able to really go after the hunting market but they have new electronics that are untouchable by other companies. Most firearm shooters suffer from hearing damage. PRO EARS helps that. But let's just say you only bowhuunt and except for your mates screaming at you as you try to slip quietly out for a morning hunt, you really don't experiance LOUD noise. OK. Get PRO EARS Pro Slim Hunters so you can hear everything that is going on around your treestand. With these beauties you will be able to hear a butterfly burp at 50 yards. You'll hear the game moving long before they come into view so you can be ready. this is one investment you will thank me for for years. Call for a catalog at 602-863-1011. Tell them you heard it on bowhunting.net.
ADVANCED INTERACTIVE SYSTEMS, formerly I.T.S. has one of the most sophisticated Interactive Video Systems available for bowhunters. If the range you shoot at doesn't have one you are missing out on a lot of fun and a great deal of practice time shooting your bow. The A.I.S. 'Technohunt' Archery System can help you hone your skills and now it comes with 'true yardage' and a special 'wind' feature.so you really have to judge yardage, you just can't hit everything with your 20 yard pin. You all know about the $100,000 National Shoot Out so I can only say again, if your local range doesn't have a system you are missing out on a lot of fun and the range owner is missing out on a sure fire way to fill his lane, increase store traffic and improve the bottom line. Hey, if your local is club is large enough you may take a look at putting one in your club range.
Well that's it, I'll try to keep you up in my column as quickly as I can so you'll know what exciting new products are available for you to improve your hunting/shooting. Here are some that I put on the page last weekend.
BARRIE ARCHERY. The Rocky Mountain name is one of the most respected in design innovation and hard hitting, tough broadheads. For 1997 you are going to get both barrels from this leader. You already know about the incredible 'Ti-100' the First and Only broadhead made of Titanium. Well, reports are out that BARRIE ARCHERY is introducing a new 3-Blade and two new Expandable broadheads. I've shot them all and I can tell you, Rocky Mountain has earned its reputation. You are going to love these new additions.
