'THE '5' MINUTE TUNE

Over the years, tuning a bow has become less time consuming. I've discovered a quick tune method that gets my bow going quickly. This method is a rough tune that is quite useful steps and you'll have most bows grouping well in just a few minutes.

  1. Adjust the till, evenly for both limbs.
  2. Observe the timing of both cams at rest. They must be reasonably synchronized.
  3. Adjust the arrow rest slightly left of center. (To determine if the arrow rest centered, nock an arrow and line the string up with the arrow while standing behind the bow. The rest is centered when the string bisects the limbs lengthwise.)
  4. Adjust the nocking point to position the arrow perpendicular to the string.
  5. Adjust arrow rest vertical tension (if applicable) to a fairly light setting.

This system assumes two things, that you shoot a release and that you must have decent form. If you follow these steps most newer bows will shoot very respectable groups. You can fine tune when you have more time.
