Clearing Canadian Immigration

By Robert Hoague

The drive up from Chicago was a breeze. We arrived at Canadian
Immigration at 10:10am. An Immigration Officer called me in and
questioned me about the 2006 incident when they would not let me come
in with my laptop and cover our bear hunt.

Then she questioned me 4 more times while my hunting buddys waited in
the truck. They looked at the web site and asked me questions about. After 3 1/2 hours the lady handed me my passport and driver’s license and said I could enter the country.

I just don’t understand what the deal is. When they ask you questions
you are not allowed to ask them questions — which would give me a handle on understanding the issue here. It seems to me that if I
talk about hunting bears in Ontario and put up some bear and hunting pictures it would
be a good thing for exposing Canadian hunting to other parts of the
world.

We were all kind of bummed about the incident at the border and drove
straight to the bear camp and unpacked, ate something and I went to
sleep.
