George's Day ... All Day
George Tague hunted
#18. At first light two deer came out of the woods behind him and entered
a field. Then they returned to the woods. As light got better they came
back out. George got the binoculars on him and could see one had a wide
spread. He couldn't tell about the second one. The wide spread buck turned
his head and George liked what he saw.
They walked back into the
woods and circled behind George, directly down wind. George was afraid
they would smell him. But they didn't. At one point George drew but a limb
was in the way of aiming. The first buck walked into the clear, it looked
to be an 8 point. George waited for the second buck, it was a sixer. George
knew which one he wanted.
George took his shot at 20
yards. The buck almost fell over sideways when he raced away in the direction
he came. George waited 15 minutes and looked for his arrow. He found it
and saw it was a pass through. George phoned Billy Don and he came to #18.
They waited an hour and 15 minutes before taking up the trail.
They found the buck in 100
yards. It turned out to be a ten point.
When talking about this hunt
George added, "When I arrived yesterday Robert gave me a box of Scent Killer
products that Wildlife Research Center
sent for the members of this bowhunt to use. I used them this morning and
when the bucks circled down wind of me I thought they would wind me, but
they didn't. Scent Killer helped me get my largest buck to date."
