On this hunt I am the guest
of Kenny McCrea of McCrea Outdoors out of San Angelo, Texas. We are hunting
on the 25,000 acre Rocky Creek Ranch.
Rocky Creek Ranch is one
of McCrea Outdoors 55,000 acres of prime whitetail deer, turkey and quail
hunting in West Central and North Texas. The ranches are game managed for
quality game for hunting.

Day 2 - Morning
Half an hour before any possibility
of light on the horizon Kenny McCrea and I slipped in to my Double Bull
blind, again we bent over the last 80 yards so we wouldn't look human in
the unlikely chance that a turkey was awake or saw us coming. All went
well and we waited for daylight for those two longbeard gobblers to fly
down by us.
The longbeards had another
plan and flew to the west. Hens flew down in all directions. One hen remained
and after a while she flew down right in the cross trail.
Right away we called on gobbles
and two gobblers circled us. They never were close enough to see them.
Once again the trails were active and over 3 dozen hens came through. I
took pictures of them all but I figure you've seen a lot of hen pics already
so here are 3 that I liked the best.
 
At 11:00 we went to the
truck. Kenny wanted to check out another area so we drove to two different
places. One had more turkey sign, (tracks and strut marks). We set up Double
Bull blind there, it is a flat area and we have good visibility. So we
have a backup plan set in place
We drove to the lodge to
see how Roy Keefer had done on his first morning's hunt. He left us a note
about the Haircut gobbler. (I'm working on this and I will have it up by
2:30 today)
