Carter
Two Shot Release
The
release had a nice wrist strap that fastened comfortably and securely.
It was necessary to adjust the tension on the trigger of the release but
once that was done the release did it's job very smoothly. Carter is the
choice of many pro archers in in archery tournament competitions. This
smooth shooting wrist release brings them into the hunting market. |

Timberline
Archery Products
The Timberline Power Glo
Extreme is a bowsight very much to my liking. It comes already assembled
and is easy to mount on your bow.
Adjusting the sight pins
is easy -- and they stay put, too. The fiber optic pins are protected.
My sight got bumped and roughed up plenty on this hunt and everything stayed
in place.
The fiber optic pins are
very bright, which is a strong plus inside the blind on overcast days or
early in the morning. Another good thing about Timberline's sights is their
very economical price, they are half the price of comparable fiber optic
sights. This sight is an excellent value. |

MyTopo
Maps
Getting
a map of my hunting area was drop dead easy. The MyTopo web site is fast
and user friendly. I wanted an aerial map and found the closest town
by typing in my zip code. Then I selected the grids I wanted. The map came
in a couple of days. It is much better map than the blurry paper
maps I've purchased so many time in the past. It was plastic coated and
clear as could be. If you hunt an area you are not absolutely familiar
with, or you want a better map of your current hunting area, I highly recommend
making sure you know the lay of the land with MyTopo. |

EASTON
Archery
Easton has been, and always
will be, the leading arrow company. On the 4x4 Grand Slammer I used the
C2 Carbon Epic arrows.
These were the first carbon
arrows I've used since the mid 70's when they first came out. (I didn't
care for them at the time, nor the later version with the long outserts
that went outside the arrow shaft.)
But these arrows are a different
breed. Their nocks fit just like XX78 nocks and the insert holders are
like the ones on the ACC's. In other words, the nocks, inserts and broadheads
all go to together normally.
The Epic arrows shot tighter
groups and stayed straight even when my bowquiver got bounced around or
took a couple of very hard thumps or once when things got piled on top
of my bow. Aluminum arrows would probably have been bent but the Epic carbon
arrowss were still perfectly straight. |
