Jon A. Silks

Bowhunting.net Field Evaluator Jon Silks grew up hunting in Pennsylvania with his father and grandfather. Armed with a life time of hunting under his belt Jon is now pursuing his second love, that of writing.

Jon began his writing with Bowhunting.net doing product reviews which he does to this day, but then expanded into feature length article writing for Arrow Adventure Magazine, Bowhunting.net, Bowhunter, Petersen's Bowhunting, Bowsite.com and The Whitetail Fanatic Magazine.

Although Jon enjoys writing the full length articles his main passion is putting his analytical mind to work on Product Evaluations have done over 200 of them in the past four years. While Jon’s main work remains bowhunting.net he has also gotten rave reviews for his product evaluations in Petersen's Bowhunting, Arrow Adventure, Arrow Trade Magazine, and Bowsite.com and in the design rooms of many of today's archery companies. He has done dozens of independent reviews for companies still in the prototype stage of a new product.

Jon does an excellent job of thoroughly dissecting and honestly evaluating a product. Then puts it all together in article form that is entertaining and educational to read. Like all the Field Evaluators for bowhunting.net, Jon is tactful but does not gloss over details that are less than flattering but also is open with his praise for a well designed, well made product.

2003 saw Jon Jon take is largest buck with a bow,  a ten point that officially netted 140 even.

Next step for Jon is helping son Tyler get his first deer. Keeping it in the bowhunting.net family, Jon and fellow Field Evaluator Dave Conrad have not only become best friends but hunting partners as well.
