| If you have ever had any type of equipment in the back of your pickup
truck that wasn't tied down, you are well aware of the potential problems.
I always thought that on short trips it wasn't necessary to tie down
the lawnmower or wheelbarrow. Just simply place a scrap 2x4 behind
the wheel and you are secured and good as gold.
Well don't attempt this if you hope to leave the bed of your truck mar
free. Even using a nice piece of rope with a secure Boy Scout knot
seems to lead to trouble.
That secure knot always somehow manages to free itself and the next
thing you know you have a piece of equipment acting like an eight year
old loose in the bed of your truck. Before you can get stopped you
will have more scratches and dents than a demolition derby. When you finally
reach your destination you end up cutting the length of your rope to get
out all of those death-grip knots.
The
makers of that ingenious Rope Ratchet have designed a nifty little tool
that is very quick and easy use to help secure items. It's like an aspirin
for your headache. CAL/GRIP is a "self-locking Cargo Control System"
that can be installed in a variety of places including your truck bed.
Unlike other rope systems the CAL/GRIP allows you to use shorter ropes
so no messy knots or extra rope is hanging or flailing around in the wind.
And talk about fast. Simply pull the rope through the CAL/GRIP and
you are done. The internal spring loaded lever clamps down for a
secure and worry free bite. No need for any lessons in knot tying.
When finished simply push the release lever to relieve the tension on the
rope.
The CAL/GRIP is proudly manufactured in the US and is backed by a five
year warranty. The five year warranty is possible due to the
device being manufactured from aircraft quality 6061-T6 aluminum and corrosion-resistant
stainless steel. Each piece is hand assembled ensuring quality throughout.
Whether you are tying down lumber, crates, boxes or tools the CAL/GRIP
can take on virtually any type of tie down job. The device also comes
in two models. The commercial model mounts on any flat surface or
can also be used on rounded surfaces, with an optional adapter. For
all you truck owners I recommend the great looking flush mount model.
With the flip of a finger this well hid model exposes itself upright and
can be used in mere seconds. The attractive release lever adds to
its great looks.
The device uses any size rope from 3.2mm to 12.7mm which can encompass
a lot of tie down jobs from lumber, crates and tools to a variety of play
toys like ATV's, snowmobiles and jet skies. Now remember it is just
not for use in truck beds. I am using mine to help with securing
my future whitetails for skinning. Using extra long wood screws I
plan on anchoring the CAL/GRIP to my favorite hanging tree. Then
when I winch the deer up I simply let the CAL/GRIP do the securing for
me. No more wrapping the rope around the tree and killing myself
on a one-man effort. You ever notice how your friends are around
to admire a nice deer that you have taken, but when it comes to the hauling
or lifting they can never be found. From now on I am going to rely
on the CAL/GRIP.
EASE OF USE 5 of 5
It can't get any simpler for securing cargo. Simply thread your
rope through the CAL/GRIP and pull. No knots to worry about.
Continue to pull until a secure and snug fit. The rope will not loosen.
Load rating is up to 500 pounds.
DESIGN/QUALITY 5 of 5
The design is patented and like mentioned earlier is made out of 6061-T6
aircraft aluminum. A spring loaded release lever clamps down for
a secure grip. Each device is hand assembled, further checking to
ensure only the highest of quality.
RUGGEDNESS 4 of 5
The device is very rugged and the 500 pound load rating is sufficient
for any type of pick-up style load. The quality aluminum and stainless
steel parts will allow for years of quality service.
