EVALUATION: WildTech Bowsling by Balcom®

The Bowsling meets all of its expectations and performed well in being able to quickly get your bow ready.  It also takes the fatigue out of carrying your bow while stalking, glassing or in a treestand.

Today's lightweight bows are a dream to carry around compared to those made several years ago.  New materials not only used in making bows but accessories have also helped.  Still carrying around a bow between four and five pounds can become somewhat of a burden while stalking or waiting on stand.

I was recently introduced to The WildTech Bowsling and can only say this sling is a godsend to those of us who spend many hours stalking or on stand.  The Bowsling takes the burden of the bow's weight off your hands and frees them up altogether in order to stay alert or glass your surroundings.

And while glassing I will always take the steadiness of two hands instead of one.  I am also always afraid that the minute I hang up my bow while on stand that mister big buck is going to decide to stroll by.  Arm fatigue is a downright pain, excuse the pun, and the Bowsling virtually eliminates it.

The device utilizes a two part system consisting of a shoulder sling and barrel hook.  The unique barrel hook is the secret to the Wildtech Bowsling because of how easily it integrates with the cable slide of a bow.

Simply slip it over the end of the cable slide and secure it in place by tightening two hex screws.  You do not have to worry about how the clasp is positioned on the slide because it has two rotating collars.

The first collar rotates for the convenience of positioning the barrel hook in order for you to place the sling through it.  The second collar allows you to close the barrel hook for securing your bow onto the sling.  This is great because you can now position your bow out of the way in order to maneuver while climbing a treestand.

The Bowsling is adjustable, made out of a durable nylon cord running through a flap, which slips over your shoulder.   Within the shoulder flap both ends of the cord pass through a nifty little cord lock and then are joined within a hard plastic coupler.  This lock is the key to adjusting the length of the Bowsling because of a geared disc within it.

First adjust the cord so that the bow is within easy reach when anchored at your side.  Then anchor by grabbing the lock and pulling away from you.  This causes the geared disc within the lock to tighten against the cords securing them.   A rubberize flap is sewn into the shoulder pad so that it will not slip while stalking or climbing.

Design 4 of 5
It is a solid design that doesn't require you to make any major adjustments to remove it and get your bow ready.  The Bowsling can also be secured for maneuvering or climbing.  The overall weight is less than two ounces and it doesn't interfere in any way with shot preparation or the shot itself.  The nylon sling stays close to your body and doesn't catch your bowstring.  The only minor flaw is that it will not work on every bow out there today.  I first thought about placing it on a Bowtech Patriot.  But because the cable slide utilizes all of the cable guard there is no room for it.

Functionality 4.5 of 5
The Bowsling meets all of its expectations and performed well in being able to quickly get your bow ready.  It also takes the fatigue out of carrying your bow while stalking, glassing or in a treestand.
