TRUGLO Eye Site Bowsight
by Dave Conrad

TruGlo is known as the worlds most advanced line of Fiber Optic Sights for firearms, and guns and archery sights.  A winner of the Readers Choice Award the past 7 years proves TruGlo is an innovator in the Fiber Optics world.  I feel this will continue with the introduction of the sleek and compact Eye Site series bow sight.

The Eye Site is available in either 3 or 5 pin models. No matter which you choose either model incorporates machined metal bodies, pin guards as well as Swiss machined, all metal sight pins.  The sight pins are housed in a dual slot design allowing for the closest of elevation adjustments.  Pins sizes are available in .019, .029 and .040 diameters varieties. All models of the sight accept Pro-Dot fiber optic pins.  This allows the archer to account for "target sizing" at various distances by mixing and matching diameters, which makes sense with today's wide array of speed bows.  The three-pin model I tested (TG 2020) included the new T.F.O. (Tritium/Fiber Optic) technology pin allowing for low light and extended shooting.  A great feature, since we all know that trophy animal will  always make his appearance in low light situations.

All TruGlo sights conform to AMO standards, which makes installation simple by mounting two allen screws into the riser.  The screws fit securely into the recessed holes on the mounting bracket that is also tapped for a quiver mount.

Tests were performed at varying distances and different times of the day to allow for varying brightness.  In daylight situations all pin sizes performed flawlessly.  In waning light situations the larger diameters fared better, as can be expected.  I also believe that the design and machined cutouts in the Pin Guards helped.  It allowed the maximum amount of penetrating light while still keeping rigidity and toughness. For all around hunting situations I recommend the .029 diameter pin.  But by far the best pin for the lowest of light hunting situations would be the .040 Tritium/Fiber.  No matter what light situation this pin performed.  The fiber allowed for light gathering during the day but in low light conditions the tritium took over.  It is also reinforced with a clear plastic cutout molded in a half moon shape to support the fiber.

Pin adjustments were easy and made by loosening an Allen set screw.  Pins moved freely for adjustments within the machined pin guard.  After adjusting, a square brass collar made for rock-solid fitting when securing the screw.  As mentioned earlier additional pins can be added as all Pro-Dot fiber optic pins are accepted.

Loosening an Allen screw in the sight bracket makes windage adjustments quick and easy.  There are no markings for reference, which may help if the sight is knocked out alignment.

Finally the sight comes in 3 or 5 pin models with either a camo or black finish.  The Eye Site is very rugged and has been endorsed by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Design/Toughness 4.5 of 5
I really like the design of the sight  It is manufactured from machined aluminum making it extremely lightweight as well as rugged.  Simulating a fall onto the Pin Guard tested its ruggedness.  No major structure damage was noted other than a slight mare to the finish. Since I hunt hard, this was of absolutely no concern.

Features 4 of 5
The Tritium/Fiber Optic Pin is a plus, especially when hunting those last few minutes of legal shooting light.  The Pro-Dot sight pins come in a variety of sizes to accommodate the 3D shooter as well as the hunter.

Price 4 of 5
All models are priced within any hunters range starting at around $30.00 for the 3 pin black model to $50.00 for the Tritium model.
