How would you like to head into some of the most breathtaking land on earth to pursue Dall Sheep, Caribou, Alaskan Brown Bear and Yukon Moose? Of course you would, and so would I. Well, while you are waiting for the day to arrive when you can finally book your dream hunt, reserve your flights and pack your bags you may want to check out Strickland Outdoors' first video: Bowhunting the Land of the Midnight Sun. This production, by one of the countries foremost authors and bowhunters, Dr. Warren Strickland, is the next best thing to being there. 

The Video begins with a short introduction by Warren and his cameraman, Chad Norton, who is also the head nurse at Strickland's cardiology practice. From there you head north for some great adventures.

Along the way Warren and Chad not only track down a few trophies but also bring you into the hunt in a way that makes you feel as if you were actually there! Besides the beautiful countryside you will also witness wolves, bison, Boone and Crocket size mosquitoes nearly succeeding in carrying Warren away, eagles, the tent almost being ripped down by a storm, humor and a bunch more. The defining characteristic of this video is the focus - ADVENTURE. Warren decided to break from the 20-hunts/20 kills per video format that is so prevalent in most productions lately. If you are one of the many people that I have spoken with over the past few years, you are looking for something different - here it is. 

Was the video perfect? No, but for two rookie film makers who purchased a Canon XL1 camera only a few short weeks before the first of four hunts, they did an amazing job! The quality is right up there with the best of them. Truly, it is one of the few hunting videos that I could watch more than once in a short period of time. 

I recommend that any bowhunters with even one adventurous bone in their body get their hands on this video. And just to lure you in a little - it is worth the money just to see the shot Warren makes during one of the hunts! Don't worry, you'll know exactly which one I'm talking about when you see it.

A great score for a first attempt at making a hunting video. If I were to compare it only to other first time attempts it would get a 5 of 5. 

With the exception a few minor editorial nips and tucks I don't know how it could be better. Another indicator of this video's quality is the reaction from educators near Warren's home. Several of the local school systems have used his video to demonstrate some of the positive aspects of outdoors and hunting. As Warren Says, "This alone is worth the production".
