Team Fitzgerald's Video: Slam Dunkin
Whitetails and Muleys

This is definitely one of the most upbeat and high-energy videos
on the market - it's hunting Fitzgerald-style - no holds barred.

Free spirited!  That is probably the best phrase I can think of to describe this new video by Team Fitzgerald Outdoors.

You won't find anyone covering up the realities of hunting or saying anything they don't mean just to please the critics.  No, Dan and his son Guy are pretty much an open book when it comes to hunting and religious topics.  This is definitely one of the most upbeat and high-energy videos on the market - it's hunting Fitzgerald-style - no holds barred!

One thing that the duo promotes heavily is that any deer with a bow is a trophy.  In fact, over 50% of the deer harvested during the sixty-seven minute production were doe.  Dan and Guy are trying to take the focus off of big racks to make the hunt more enjoyable for everyone, and especially for youth hunters. Dan and guy believe, as I do, that the future of hunting depends on today's youth. Toward the end of the video, you will see a young boy take his very first deer (one of my favorite scenes) with a bow!  Congratulations Jared!

In one scene you can a scenario plays out that is familiar to the average hunter. You get all set up and something or someone decides to barge in and throw things off. In this case it was two people on a four-wheeler - caught on camera! I think a lot of hunters will connect with Team Fitzgerald on this level because it hits close to home for the average bowhunter. This type of down to earth, "just like the rest of us", say it like it is video is very appealing to many.

Something that impressed me throughout the video was the incredible instinctive shooting by both Guy and Dan.  I was mostly amazed by Guy's shot on a Muley buck taken on a spot-and-stalk hunt in Wyoming with Whitetail Creek Outfitters.  It is definitely a highlight, and one you have to see to appreciate.  It didn't matter if they were in a treestand on the ground, in the open, or behind a blind.  They made terrific shots.

One of the hunts took place on Anticosti Island, which is a huge whitetail hunting paradise.  While out scouting, Dan and company look over the cliffs and see a seal swimming in the ocean below.  Now there something you don't see too often while out hunting!  To top it off, Dan takes a beautiful buck in full velvet.

"Slam Dunkin Whitetails and Muleys" is unique among all of my other videos.  Scenes of Dan and Guy cooking up some mouth-watering venison, practicing their instinctive shooting, and spending time with future hunters really add to the video.  I have to warn you though - if you are sensitive to the realities of hunting or have strong "politically-correct" views, this may not be the video for you.  However, if you like the no-apologies approach, and hunting - AS IS, then you will love it!

Quality: 4 of 5
Throughout the video you will see good footage of whitetail deer and one amazing scene of a seal in the ocean. One suggestion: Place the advertisements at the end, I tried to rewind it when I first saw it because it looked like the show was over.

Value: 4 of 5
At approximately $10.00 it is worth it just to see the instinctive shooting display!
