'Hunter' Bow Quiver by Fine-Line
by D.R. Rogers

It was a cold November morning as I crossed a knee-deep creek on my way to a stand in a hot funnel in southern Iowa. As I inched my way out of the icy water on the far side I stumbled, all my gear and I hit the deck on the steep bank. I collected everything and made my way up my stand. As I was getting settled in and hoping for a good buck to walk by I noticed that all my arrow nocks were completely filled with mud. It wasn't the first time this has happened and I knew sooner or later it would cost me a shot opportunity.

This will never happen if a bowhunter switches to the Hunter Bow Quiver by Fine Line. from the Lakewood, Washington company that invented the self aligning Peep Sight with rubber tubing, Fine-Line. When Rich Walton sent me one for review he kept saying, "It's the best quiver on the market". With literally dozens out there, that is a pretty confident statement. However after testing this quiver for several weeks I noticed several awesome features, not present in any other quivers.

First and foremost, as I mentioned above, your nocks are totally secured and protected in Fine-Line's exclusive 'nock bar'. By capturing the arrows at both ends, eliminating the standard rubber arrow clips, you can feel assured your arrows will not slip or rattle free and most important, you don't have to worry about broken or clogged nocks. It protects any size nock and securely captures and protects arrows at both ends. It will hold any length or diameter of shaft from aluminum, to wood, to carbon, securely.

You don't have to worry about those rubber arrow clips that are hard to use, wear out and take a set, especially in extreme cold weather. If you've owned your normal quiver for any length of time you also know from a bad experience that they eventually loosen over time as well resulting in loose arrows that rattle and slip. The Hunter Bow Quiver securely holds your shafts without vibrations or rattles that spook game.

The Hunter Bow Quiver is easily adjusted to fit the particular length of your arrow and may also be adjusted so it fits your particular bow, up or down. It also features a deep, squared hood with replaceable, pre-drilled foam that will hold 8 large broad heads tightly, with adequate space. The adjustment rods are covered in in replaceable, Trebark, Woodland and Shadow camo sleeves. For those who like to shoot without a quiver once they enter the stand is the 'Quick-Detach' center locking system.

Arrow removal is fast, simple. Grasp the shaft and push the arrow up into the foam hood until the nock clears. Then the arrow may be drawn out of the hood and nocked. This is a feature that also allows you to keep your eyes on the target while you remove the arrow and nock on the string. Each arrow automatically indexes with the cock vane in. Some extra's that are also available if needed are 2" or 3" dovetail brackets for mounting and a 'Quiver Lock' Extension Bar that will let you remove the whole sight and quiver as a unit if you prefer.

Design: 5 of 5
The Hunter Bow Quiver is extremely well built and sturdy. If adjusted properly your arrows won't move and you'll still be able to get them out quickly without even looking. It's deceptively light and quiet, which is an important factor to me. I noticed no extra vibration after proper instillation was
completed.

Ruggedness/Durability: 5 of 5
Constructed well and built to last a lifetime.

Noted Detractions
Unfortunately the bows I had available for testing were both extremely short. The new PSE Stingray and my friends Matthews MQ-32. On these two ultra short bows the Hunter Bow Quiver was a bit too large. It must be stated that ANY quiver adds extreme weight and torque to these bows. However, the Fine-Line Quiver may be adjusted for a more even center fit on the riser.

We experienced problems attaching the quiver as it came, on these bows due to our personal choice of sights. The PSE line has a extremely large adjustment knob that made it hard to attach out of the box. This problem however, is easily overcome with the use of the proper dovetail bracket which is sold as an accessory. Once secured on the bow, things came together  nicely.

Recommendation:
If you shoot a quiver that attaches directly to your bow and want a sturdy, well-built quiver that eliminates problems associated with nocks and the wear of rubber clips, the Fine Line Hunter Quiver is the only way to go!
