DAY #8
The
alarm started going off around 5:00 am. Both Coondog and I were dead tired
after all the work from the day before, but we finally crawled out of bed
and headed for Mon’s lake. The weather wasn’t perfect but we had to keep
trying. The bugs were back in action but not as bad as day 4.
Coondog and I decided to stay on the ground and call -- if a bull responded
he would get in the tree stand and I would try to move around and pull
the bull by him. Good plan but you have to have a bull answer you to call
him.
At
11:00 am, after calling till I was blue in the face, Coondog said it was
time to go. I didn’t want to give up nor did he but we had to pack our
stuff and leave for Ohio.
We meet Owen at the boat launch at 3:00 pm and drove into Mattice. Early
the next morning we were on our way to Ohio with a lot of memories.
This will be a trip that I will never forget.
We have already been placed on the waiting list to chase moose with
Owen again in 2008. We're both looking for the right 5 minutes.
Now it is time to start thinking about Ohio Whitetails and fall wild
turkeys. Stay tuned to Bowhunting.net
and check my Home Page to find out what we're
after next.
