DAY #3
When
I got out of bed at 5:00 am I knew that it wasn’t going to be good -- due
to the wind. I checked the temperture, which was 62 degrees, also bad;
but we still had to be out there.
We arrived at Mons Lake again still hoping we would catch the big bull
in the right mood. At daybreak the wind settled and the temperture continued
to rise. By 9:00 am the first little black fly appeared from no where.
I couldn’t believe that they were out in September.
I gave him a smack and as soon as he was dead 10,000 others came to
the funeral. With no head nets or bug juice we decided to retreat to camp.
We
ate lunch and check the bear baits. The south bate had been hit again by
the same small bear. We rebated and decided to try our luck at fishing.
Man did we catch some nice pike. Saved a couple for dinner and went back
to camp.
At 4:00 pm the wind started blowing but we still went to the stands
on Mons Lake. The wind kept the bugs down but we saw nothing. Right at
dark we heard thunder in the back ground so we moved quickly to the boat
and arrived at camp just before the storm, which lasted all night.
Even when things are going bad you have to keep the right attitude.
It only takes five good minutes and that’s all we were looking for. Maybe
tomorrow will give us those five minutes.
