The Eyes Of A Young Hunter ...
I attended the 2003 Archery Trade Show (ATA), formally the Archery Manufacturers
Show (AMO), in Indianapolis, Indiana.
There were many new and innovative products. Some of which included
the new Mathews LX bow. It has a lot of the same features
that the Mathews Legacy has with a few new improvements, like the V
lock limb pocket design and a new faster smoother cam. It is
going to be my choice for the 2003 competition and hunting season.
Toxonics has several new innovative bowsights. Including a new 2-pin
sight with a third roller pin that is adjustable up to 80 yards. It is
awesome and I am excited about using it.
Badlands backpacks has really outdid themselves this year. They have
a new silent entry system that doesn't require a zipper and has Scent-Lok
linings. They also have turkey vests. Their newly designed backpacks are
for every type of hunting from fanny bag daypacks to the outback deep woods
hunter.
Bushnell Sport optics has hit a homerun with their new Yardage Pro Quest. It
combines an 8 X 36 power binoculars with a laser range finder that gives
distances from 15 - 1300 yards. It should be a hit with hunters because
it combines 2 pieces of equipment into one.
Muzzy Products has designed a new system for the Zero-Effect arrowrest
that enables it to be compatible with the new roller cable designed for
the Mathews bows.
It seems like that there are several new treestand companies springing
up,but I still think that Gorilla has some of the best stands out there.
I did find a new treestand company called Buck Derby. The stand is very
comfortable and easy to set up. I am very anxious to try this new product.
I will let you know more about this product after I have used it.
There were many more new products that I will tell you about later in
the year.
At the ATA show Saturday night, Micheal Waddell or RealTree invited
my sister and I to watch him play guitar. We did not realize that Realtree
had put together a band called Realtree Road Trips with Micheal Waddell.
Some of the band members include Micheal Waddell on guitar, Jay Gregory
from the Wild Outdoors and the cheif editor from Realtree Outdoors on the
bass guitar . There were also some other guys who got together with them
to perform in the band.
Micheal said that they had only performed together one other time. The
band played for about 3 hours . Not only are Micheal Waddell and Jay Gregory
great hunters, they can also jam with the best of any band out there. I
hope that they keep doing this. It was great.
Go to your nearest archery pro shop and check out some of the new products
for 2003.
Look for me back on Sportsmen's Outdoor Strategies starting in July.
I will be running the Muzzy Products booth at the Illinois Deer and Turkey
Classic in Bloomington,IL. on Feb. 21-23. Stop by if you are in the area.
It is at the Interstate Center.
