| CASEVILLE, MICHIGAN - This summer, American legend and hunting hero,
Ted Nugent, hosted the 15th annual Ted Nugent Kamp for Kids. The
Kamp, created by Nugent to provide a desperately needed opportunity for
kids to experience life "beyond the pavement" has been an overwhelming
success.
Youngsters
travel from all over the country to benefit from this very special outdoor
experience. The Kamp's unique curriculum combines hands-on hunting,
conservation and recreation education with fundamentals such as the history
of our constitution and American freedoms--subjects virtually ignored in
so many schools today.
"My Ted Nugent Kamp for Kids is more than just a Kamp," states Nugent.
"We teach these kids to be assets to their lives, their families, their
communities and nature."
Held in two separate sessions in Caseville, Michigan the non-profit
Kamp provides more than 200 boys and girls, aged 11-15, with the ultimate
outdoor experience. As with any activity bearing the "Ted Nugent"
name, Nugent makes it a point to be personally involved. He volunteers
both with is time, and his talents, to this worthy endeavor. For
most Kampers, the highlight of the weekend is Nugent's informative, educational
and entertaining presentation on his life as a hunter, shooter, fisher,
trapper and conscientious participant in the balance of nature.
A national spokesman for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program
(D.A.R.E.), Nugent weaves a strong anti-drug, anti-alcohol abuse message
into his presentation, advocating the natural highs to be found in an outdoor
lifestyle. He focuses on self-esteem, family values and a strict
code of discipline and ethics as the basis for the hunt, and all meaningful
endeavors in life.
It seems that the message is coming through loud and clear. Nugent's
headquarters in Jackson, Michigan receives hundreds of letters from kids
crediting Nugent and his Kamp for giving them the strength to resist peer
pressure, and the motivation to take charge of their lives.
"These kids have gained a new appreciation for the ways of the wild,
defying the foolishness of drugs and alcohol," said Nugent. "Over
the past six years, we've helped hundreds of young people, and their families,
become active participants in the grand scheme of conservation. And
it is glorious!"
Of course, no Kamp would be complete without Ted's up-close and personal
campfire performance of his hunt music, including "Sunrize," "I Just
Want to Go Hunting," and the emotional "Fred Bear," Nugent's powerful tribute
to his own hero and mentor.
