3-D competitor Joella Bates has become the first woman to take a Cape Buffalo
with modern archery equipment -- and possibly the first woman ever to take
one of these dangerous big game animals with a bow and arrow. Sponsored

manufacturer of Bad to the Bone broadheads, Joella's buff green scored
105" [SCI] with an immense 35" boss.
"This was the most exciting thing I have ever done," Joella said. "The
buff loomed up out of the grass like this great big black cloud and when
I finally got a shot, it was late in the afternoon and would be dark in
an hour."
"The guides asked if I could make a frontal shot, but I would only agree
to it if we could get close enough. So, with the wind in our face, we made
what must have been the world's most careful stalk."
"At 22 yards, I got the shot and the buff went about 200 yards before
it lay down and I could finish it. My equipment - starting with my perfectly
performing Bodoodle arrow rest and superior Muzzy broadheads - performed
absolutely flawlessly."
