JUST WHAT OR WHO IS AUSTRALIAN BOWHUNTER MAGAZINE?

Australian Bowhunter is an independent publication dedicated to the "Making Bowhunting Bigger!" It has been on the newsstands in Australia since 1991, and during this time it has under gone many improvements and changes.

Australian Bowhunter's publication started as a 64 page magazine printed on low quality paper with little colour. Today it is a 100 page publication with 52 pages of colour. In fact with the increase in pages and the drop in print size, Australian Bowhunter contains three times as much information than it did when it was first published. It has been a huge task but one which we have met with vigour and vitality.

Australian Bowhunter is the largest, highest selling and most widely distributed magazine dedicated to bowhunting and archery in the Southern Hemisphere. Owned and operated by Mark and Karen Ballard, Australian Bowhunter reflects our dedication to the promotion and growth of bowhunting and archery.

With nearly 50 combined years of involvement in bowhunting and archery, we believe that we present our combined knowledge and love of our great bowhunting culture, in the best possible light through the pages of Australian Bowhunter. To us, bowhunting has gone well beyond something we do when we have the time. We  live, eat and breathe bowhunting and archery!

Whilst Karen has not had time to do much bowhunting over the last few years (as she has been raising three Bowhunters and you can read about them in Edition 50), Mark has been very busy with his bow and arrow. He currently holds the Australian Record for the Chital (axis) deer, and has taken many other species that rate within the Top Ten of bowshot records. Truly a great achievement.

Both Mark and I are involved in associations and organisations that promote bowhunting and archery. This way we can keep our finger on the pulse and get out and about with fellow bowhunters and archers. It allows us to create a network that constantly keeps us informed about the latest "happenings" in bowhunting and archery. As well as any threats which may be presenting themselves via the anti hunting groups and politicians.

This is just a very small picture of who we are, but we hope that it has impressed upon you that being the co-editors of Australian Bowhunter is more than just a job to us. It truly is a way of life and a position which we take very seriously.

Until we hear from you,
Regards
Mark & Karen Ballard
