The Tale of Garfield

The Tale of Garfield

Feeling pretty defeated, I got on my knees to relax a bit, planning in my mind the next morning’s hunt when I heard a very loud ‘GRUUUNNNTTT’. The next few seconds are a blur as I looked in the direction of the grunting buck to see Garfield’s tall rack working toward me. He was close.

Great Scents Make Good Sense

Great Scents Make Good Sense

Do Scents work? Well, with the attitude of “What do we have to lose?” Macklin Nusz of Hang’Em Outfitters covered the little food plot with the Premium Hot Doe Estrus Urine and settled in for the evening. Less than an hour later he was recovering a once love-sick buck.

Then, the deer scattered. ‘Tall 3s’ took off but in the direction I needed him to, right in my shooting lane. He came to a stop and looked around as if he was trying to figure out what all was going on, I came to full draw as he started to walk quartering away from me toward the corner.

Stick to the Plan

Stick to the Plan

I had been out in the woods since 5:30 am. It was now 11:00 am and I was birdless. Most hunters would have given up long ago. I had a plan and about 11:25 it worked. Three longbeards came into my calls like they had read the script.

Winter Predator Hunting in Extreme Temps

“Whaaaaa....Whaaa.....WHHHAA!” The rabbit-in-distress call echoed through the frozen woods.

Sponsored by: Robinson Outdoors, Tree Spider & ScentBlocker Products “Whaaaaa….Whaaa…..WHHHAA!” The rabbit-in-distress call echoed through the frozen woods.   I had no sooner finished my first calling sequence when I heard, “BOOM!… BOOM!…” My hunting buddy Jon was shooting at something. As I turned, I caught, out of the corner of my eye – about 80 yards out – […]
