For many of our children, the outdoor experience, including hunting and fishing, play an important part of growing up. For Baylee Guedes and her siblings it was passed on by their father Matt. They are fortunate. Something we all need to pass on to our children.
We were in the Limpopo province of South Africa at Doornrand Hunting Safaris. My trip started off slowly. I hunted with a bow for a few days, when I wasn’t filming. I was looking for a zebra, but never got a shot. I was able to get a shot on a Waterbuck.
Women are the fastest growing segment of the hunting/shooting sports and part of the reason is Jen O’Hara and Norissa Harman. Two women who started with a love for the outdoors and built it into a popular TV Show and line of hunting clothing for women.
I thought to myself: draw back, get on target, put finger on trigger, get steady on target, squeeze. As I squeezed, the arrow flight was smooth and made impact with the waterbuck moments later and the waterbuck was completely shocked at the impact.
Baylee Guedes left yesterday for another exciting hunting/filming trip in South Africa. Here is how and what she did to help get ready for this incredible adventure with her Dad, Matt of Journey Hunts.
We all seek out perfection with the bow. We practice, we buy new equipment, we have friends watch us shoot but perfection is elusive. Baylee learned that in a recent trip to Africa. The lesson was valuable.
… things changed for the better as not five minutes later a big male blesbok walked in to the pond. He was beautiful. He had great color and great horns. My dad looked at me and whispered that it was a good one.
Filming hunts is actually one of my passions. Yes, being the hunter is fun, but filming someone hunting is just as fun. You get to watch the hunt through the lens of a camera, you see the same thing everyone else is seeing from a different perspective.
