Animal Rights Terrorists Conference in
L.A. |
Activists who
advocate violence and destruction in the name of animal rights conducted
workshops and information sessions during the Animal Rights 2005 conference on
July 7-11 in Los Angeles. A report from Americans for Medical Progress (AMP),
which protects society’s investment in medical research, told how conference
attendees heard speakers promote criminal actions in the name of animal
rights.
According to the
report, Kevin Kjonaas, founder of the group Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty
(SHAC)-USA claimed that the animal rights movement is “at a crossroads. Some
people may die fighting, but it is worth fighting for.” According to AMP Kjonaas
is currently under indictment for several federal domestic terrorism counts. He
faces up to 23 years in prison if convicted of every count against him. He told
the audience that he was compelled to tone down his language since he is under
indictment, saying that, if he is convicted, “it could sent a precedent that
outlaws animal rights; that animal liberation is illegal.”
Speaker Jerry
Vlasak of the Animal Defense League (ADL) and also an Animal Liberation press
officer said: “The laws we are accused of breaking…the new laws they
(government) are dreaming up everyday, every minute, have always (been) meant to
be broken.” He added that “we cannot let them label us as terrorists, or
violent, or (say) that activists are fanatics.” This is the same man who was
quoted in a British newspaper last year as saying that assassinating scientists
is a legitimate approach to advance animal liberation and the animal rights
movement.
Paul Watson,
founder of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society also presented during the
conference. He urged activists “to break the law before the law breaks you.”
Watson is a vigilante accused of sinking ocean vessels to make a political
statement on behalf of the animal rights movement.
Groups like the
Humane Society of the United States, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
and Friends of Animals will be conducting their own conferences in the upcoming
weeks and months in locations ranging from New York City to Washington, D.C.
Animal Rights Groups Recruiting Children in
Schools
According the to
U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (www.ussportsmen.org), anti-hunting
organizations are focusing recruitment efforts on our nation’s young people in
hopes of turning them against America’s traditional hunting and fishing
heritage. Here are some examples of their tactics:
The National
Association for Humane and Environmental Education (NAHEE) is the youth
education affiliate hiding under the cover of the nation’s leading anti-hunting
organization, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). It reaches more
than a million school children nationwide through monthly issues of KIND News
where they are slipping their anti-trapping and anti-hunting rhetoric into
classrooms.
The American
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) puts the animal rights
message into schools through its quarterly AnimaLessons newsletter for teachers.
It targets children in kindergarten through 8th grade. In one of its most recent
newsletters, the ASPCA encouraged young students to visit its website to find
out about animal related legislative issues and encouraged them to write to
their legislators regarding such issues. The ASPCA urges website visitors to
support anti-hunting and anti-trapping campaigns nationwide. The message is
reaching kids who log on to the Internet.
People for the
Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has several age-specific websites such as
peta2.com and petakids.com that cater to young people’s interests. The group
begins with animal welfare messages for the young people, but then moves to
recruit children into animal rights activists who are willing to vandalize,
burglarize and terrorize to make a statement for the animal rights
movement.
Hunters &
Fishermen need to take action! Teachers, parents and adults must keep track of
the animal rights propaganda that is making its way into our schools as “humane
education.” If your child brings home a newsletter or worksheet provided by an
anti-hunting group, contact your child’s teacher and principal. Let them know
that the materials promote organizations that aim to destroy America’s wildlife
conservation. Demand that the material be removed from your school system!
Eat
More Fish
PETA has called on
one of the largest aquariums in the United States to stop serving fish to its
visitors, likening the practice to grilling up "poodle burgers at a dog show."
"It's easy to think of fish as swimming vegetables but of all the places in the
country where fish should get a fair shake it's an aquarium," said Karin
Robertson, manager of the Fish Empathy Project for People for the Ethical
Treatment of Animals.
Robertson sent a
letter to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, near Los Angeles, asking
directors to take fish off the cafeteria lunch menu, adding: "Serving fish at an
aquarium is like serving poodle burgers at a dog show." She said that recent
studies show that fish are surprisingly "intelligent, sensitive and interesting
animals" and that the aquarium was contradicting that message by cooking them
for lunch.
Jerry Schubel,
aquarium president, said in a statement that the facility served only
sustainable and environmentally friendly fish and was committed to educating the
public about conserving ocean environments.
The editors at
Whitetail Fanatic got hungry while researching this story and subsequently
ventured out to a local restaurant for none other than, you guessed it, fish
sandwiches.
Coming at you with Big Bucks
The August 2005 issue

buck that Steve Wolf harvested in November, 2004. The Kickstand Buck has double
drop tines which are 9 and 13 inches long with a double main beam on its right
side. It is a cool buck with a great story that you won’t want to miss.
Brady
Campaign Lies
According to
industry sources, the "Brady Campaign" testified in March before the House
Judiciary Committee in opposition to H.R. 800--"The Protection of Lawful
Commerce in Arms Act"--federal legislation that would protect law-abiding
firearm manufacturers from reckless, predatory, and potentially bankrupting
lawsuits. During testimony, the group attempted to bolster its argument by
introducing a letter that listed five Nevada law enforcement officials who
purportedly lent their names to the Brady's effort to thwart the bill.
The Bradys and
another anti-gun organization--the "Million Mom March"--even posted the
opposition letter on their websites as a way to garner key support for their
gun-banning efforts. But, as it turns out (and not surprisingly), the Brady
Campaign apparently added the sheriffs' names to the letter without their
knowledge or approval!
All five sheriffs
have since contacted the Brady Campaign and asked to have their names removed.
Incidentally, the letter in question was suddenly removed from the Brady's
website.
