Jim Seeley Bags The First Hog
By Robert Hoague
Mar 14, 2008 - 12:19:59 AM

For the first two hours Jim Seeley watched the numerous doves in the area. He heard some coyotes and got his camera out. Fifteen minutes later he heard something running behind him. Five hogs were running to a feeder.

Jim Seeley is the Director of Programming and Production for The Spotsman Channel

Jim had to get his camera put away and got his bow. He watched them for 10 minutes. A black and white  hog was the largest. Jim said, "The thing I noticed about them was they never stopped moving. It was hard to get a clean angle on one."

Jim drew and held, looking for a clear shot. It did not happen and he eventually had to let down. Shortly after the hog turned broadside and Jim drew. But the hog kept changing positions. Jim held for half a minute before he got his shot opportunity.

The arrow hit the hog and it bolted. The others followed and they all went toward the ranch road they had used to bring Jim to the stand. Jim saw his hog slow down. The others passed it and in seconds it was down within view.

Then Jim called Billy Don and told him he had a hog down. It was 7:30pm. Coyotes yelped again and before dark 5 more hogs came into the area. But an unseen hog sounded off with grunts in the brush and all the hogs left.

This is Jim's first shot with the bow and his first bow kill.

The Sportsman Channel established itself in 2003 as the only channel that is all hunting and fishing 24/7.
