Bob Stinson - 1924 - 2006

Robert (Bob) Eugene Stinson passed peacefully on Sunday, October 29.  Born in 1924,  Bob grew up in Galion, Ohio, the only child of George and Hazel Boyd Stinson.

Graduating from High School he immediately joined the Army Air Corp.  He became  a first lieutenant, and fought the Japanese  in a P-38 while stationed in Alaska.   Returning home he married Aase Oxaal, the woman whose name was written on his P-38.  They moved to Mayfield, MI and had 4 sons who survive him, Stuart, Jon, David and Steve.

Robert was an avid deer bowhunter.  In 1954 he invented a new hunting quiver which  cleverly fit on the bow stem and started the Kwikee Kwiver Company in the spare bedroom of their house.  In 1963 Bob and Aase moved into their new home in Acme, MI.

While there Kwikee Kwiver Company grew to become the worlds premier bow quiver and remains the Cadillac of the quiver world.  Bob’s beloved mother died in 1982 and every year he would set out a rose.  Bob is survived by Aase, his son’s, and his grandchildren, Shawn, Brandon, Brittany, Ben and J.R..  The funeral service will be held on November 11th  at 1PM  at the Grace Episcopal Church, 341 Washington Street in Traverse City, MI.
