When I was asked to write a short biography, my initial thought was "no problem".  Not!  In magazine articles, the author biography is about two lines long, four max.  Just give the editor the basics about yourself and he'll take it from there.  Not so on the Internet.  There's so much more opportunity with time and space.

Well, I've spent considerable time trying to figure out what you would want to know about me while being mindful of the space.  That's hard to do without sounding like I'm bragging.  I say that because, I'm truly a blessed man, growing up in the southern tip of rural Texas. A land rich and fertile for farming and ranching with an abundance of wildlife.  You couldn't walk in any direction for more than five minutes without running into a place to fish or hunt, and as a boy I fished or hunted almost daily, weather and chores permitting.

Forty-seven years ago my mother had no idea who she was giving birth to.  Of course, neither did I.  But as the years rolled by, we both found out we each had an eager fishing partner, and fish we did!  I don't believe there's a canal, resaca or hole in the southern Rio Grande River that didn't get a line tossed into it.  And living only minutes away from the gulf coast provided the excuse we needed to see if the trout, flounder or redfish were biting.

Dad got lucky too.  He wound up with a little hunter who wanted to experience those dove, quail, geese and deer hunts.  Not only did he enjoy teaching me how to shoot and hunt, he really enjoyed my bird plucking abilities.  Talk about a win-win situation.

The outdoor experiences throughout my youth laid the foundation that I've built my life upon.  Completing college with a degree in wildlife/big game management prepared and led me into the world of manufacturing hunting and bowhunting equipment, writing, creating and publishing The Hunt Recorder & Notes Book

There's a saying, "The only thing that doesn't change, is change itself."  As hard as I've tried, I've yet to prove that wrong.  I guess that's why I'm always venturing out, looking for new adventures.  And, I have to admit that my love to hunt central Texas whitetails, south Texas javalina and New Mexico mule deer has changed as well, it grows every time I step into the wilderness.  Also, I continue to learn as I hunt them, and with that comes greater enjoyment and successes afield.  What's next?  I don't know, but I'm looking forward to it.

One last thing, please join and support organizations that uphold and protect hunting, and the beliefs close to your heart.  My memberships and efforts support the National Rifle Association, Lone Star Bowhunters Association, the Professional Bowhunters Society and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.  Get involved, our future depends on it.
