Zan D. Christensen

Howdy ya’ll. My friends call me Zano. As you’ve guessed, I’m from Texas. Growing up in rural south Texas afforded me endless opportunities to pursue my love to hunt and fish. And boy, did I. My passion to learn everything I could about the critters I hunted lead me to college, earning a degree in big game Wildlife Management.

I began hunting whitetailed deer at an early age, tagging my first at age eleven. What began as a quest with a long range deer rifle evolved into a pursuit for close range experiences.

I limited shots with my "new"old Winchester 30-30 to 50 yards or less, yet yearned for more. Then in 1981 I rediscovered bowhunting. Something I loved to do as a boy, building my own longbows to hunt fish, feathers and fur. I’ve always shot traditional equipment and do today, preferring the recurve. This method of hunting demands commitment, creates great challenges, and I love it.

I concentrate most of my big game hunting efforts on whitetailed deer and crave to find out why, when and where these animal act the way they do. This yearning to figure them out, to implement new strategies and engage in the hunt has brought me to where I am today. I stay plenty busy hunting, managing a deer lease, writing articles for magazines and the Internet, and publishing The Hunt Recorder & Notes Book.

Plus, a new manufacturing business is on the horizon. My strengths also include landowner relations, acquiring private property hunting rights and promoting the ethics and traditions of hunting.

My memberships & efforts support the Lone Star Bowhunters Association, Professional Bowhunters Society, and the National Rifle Association.
