A Wild Hog Bowhunt In Progress - 2003
April 2, Contd. - The hog was in a brush pile and was nearly impossible to see, so we walked by it 2 or 3 times before actually shining a flashlight beam on it. I propped the hog up and Perry took a couple of flash pictures. The next move was for Perry to get the 4-wheeler and drag the hog out. He'd only taken a few steps when a group of wild hogs ran up on us (in the dark). The brush around us came alive with hog movement and loud grunts. (It's one of those moments with potential for things to go badly, but your best bet is to wait it out.) Fortunately they backed away. Another group was near my truck. They ran when we came up. So we loaded the hog in my truck and took it to Perry's dad to be butchered.
