| Scouting For Deer: A Doe Fight
(Aug 2 2001)
|
| Both does rose to their hind feet and
landed blows to the other with their front feet.
I was 35 yards away and could clearly hear the impact of their hooves. It only lasted seconds. My digital camera is a good one, but it doesn't take an instant picture, there are a few seconds delay depending on the available light, and when the picture was taken the deer were done. But they surprised me and went back up a second time, toe to toe, each hammering the other with blows. I got on them as quick as I could and immediately pushed the button to take a picture. And this time I got part of the fight, the bigger doe has just beat the other doe down. As you can see the young doe has turned tail and is scratching off, getting out of there, fast. ![]() |
