Roadrunner
BEEP!!  BEEP!!
Everyone who comes to bowhunt with me that is from another state is always impressed with all the Roadrunners we have around here. We've really got a lot of them.

Ever since I got my first digital camera I have tried (for months) to get a decent pic of one. Lately I've had my camera with me almost all the time and I've taken pics of half a dozen. But the Roadrunners always head for cover and in the shadows the pic is always dark or out of focus.

This morning I finally met a Roadrunner who was not camera shy!!!
Sometimes things just do not make any sense! But we don't always have to understand why something goofy is coming down when the thing you've been looking for jumps right in your shooting lane, be it for your bow or your camera.

This morning I put some meat out for my cat and started doing email. Then I heard a ruckus outside and looked out to see what was up. I saw my mouser cat and a Roadrunner, a few yards apart, staring at each other. The cat's snack was scattered around on the porch. I headed for my camera, turned it on, and popped several pictures of the Roadrunner through the glass in my front door. Then, to see if I could get away with it, I slowly opened the front door and slipped out. My cat saw me and ran over and started rubbing on my legs.

Surprise!!! The Roadrunner darted over to the edge of my porch and bristled up his head feathers. My cat headed for the hills, or more accurately, the barn. Then the Roadrunner strutted around the yard and finally jumped up on my front fence and walked around on the top rail. I took more pictures.
The Roadrunner bristles up its head feathers and lets my cat know he isn't gong to stand for any nonsense .
The Roadrunner flew up on the top rail of my front yard fence and hung out.
The Roadrunner walked right up to the porch, apparently looking for more of the cat's food. It acted like I was not even present. This is the closest picture I got and it is nearly life size. (800x600) or (640x480)
