Bucks were out in the food plot this morning and my Sony must have been smiling if it enjoys taking pictures of Big Boy and the other bucks as much as I do.

As early as April I had the first fawn sighting. And I've seen a bunch since then but I either didn't have my camera with me or couldn't get it fired up in time to capture a fawn picture.

But yesterday afternoon, July 26, the fawn picture situation turned around. It is always a big thrill to see the first fawn and its a magic thing to take the first fawn pictures. Indeed, we are having a good time in the deer woods this year, you and I. Enjoy...

Successful morning picture taking always teeters on the amount of available sun light. If the deer leave too early you might see a bunch but not be able to take a single picture. Today was almost one of those mornings as six bucks moved into the food plot in the first gray morning light. Big Boy has not showed in several days and I was pleased when I recognized his antlers in my binoculars. Now I just needed enough light to get a picture. Finally...

I was hoping to see the wide buck from July 17 but frankly didn't expect to be so lucky as to see him the next day. But I did. And my Sony nailed him and what he did this morning.

Today I checked out a new, but nearby, area. It must be a bucks only place because that's all I saw. Things paid off, a new buck came up with the Black Face buck and I got some good deer pics. July 17, 2007

Their antlers are growing fast. Double Kicker goes Triple. We have two food plots going now. One we planted. And one that is natural. Here are pictures of deer doing their thing in both on the morning of July 16.

My eyelids were getting real heavy waiting for enough daylight to take pictures -- although there was nothing to take pictues of, at least not yet. I closed my eyes for a moment and when I looked up ten minutes later there were 4 bucks in front of me. And it was daylight enough for pictures. So I pictured away.

This morning I took pictures from a new blind and got lucky. A notherwide buck comes up and I get some close up pictures. This is July 7.

I waited in the early morning low light and saw eight deer come into the nearby area and browse on the long leaf plants that the deer are interested in eating lately. The sky was overcast so picture taking possibilities were a little later than usual. When there was finally enough light to take pictures there were two bucks and a doe left. The black faced buck was one of them and his antlers look like they have grown since the pictures on Saturday.
