When
it comes to temperature, I'm firmly convinced that average or slightly
below average temperatures for the time of year and location you are hunting
are ideal. A whitetail handles heat by moving as little as possible
during the day, which always leads to poor hunting. Thousands of
hunters can attest to this after the record setting heat of the 1999 season.
But if the temperatures are average or below,
deer movement will be normal. The problem with average or below average
temperatures over much of the country is that these temperatures are cold
enough to drive many hunters back to the warmth of vehicle or shelter after
a shorter-than-anticipated stint on stand.
In
the past, I just accepted the fact that I was going to be cold and toughed
it out, but I suffer from the cold no longer. For the past few years
my Heater Body Suit goes with me wherever I hunt.
My buddies laughed at me when I carried my Heater
Body Suit to my stand with me during a late season bow hunt in Mississippi
when the temperature was just barely below freezing. But I've hunted
the south enough to know that the damp cold down there cuts to the bone
despite temperatures which remain in the 20's or even 30's.
That evening, I could have sold my suit for twice
what I paid for it.
No matter where you hunt, this suit will keep
you warm. In fact, the small company which produces them, is so confident
that you will stay warm in a Heater Body Suit that they have a very simple
guarantee. Get cold in one of their suits and they will refund every
penny. I've recommended them to all of my friends and not one has
sent his back yet.
