Blaine's Hunt
Teenagers Blaine Cupp and Ricky Philippi left the camp at dawn. They
skulked around and saw a few wild hogs but couldn't get close enough.
Shortly after 9:00am they located a group of hogs laying in water and
mud near one of the ranch's perimeter fences. The two guys quickly devised
a plan. Blaine was to hide by the nearest hog trail to the fence and Ricky
would cut into the woods with the intention of coming out on the
far side of the hogs and letting them see him. Hopefully this would move
the hogs towards Blaine.
While Ricky was circling, Blaine was sneaking along on the hog trail
and he saw the hogs start moving on their own. He quickly hid in a blow
down. The hogs came right smack down the trail Blaine was waiting by. Blaine
drew and as the first boar stepped, broadside, into his shooting lane.
He released.
The arrow passed through the boar's vitals and it ran a short distance
and expired.

and (R) Ricky Philippi with Blaine's boar.
The guys radioed in and Rick and I heard them and asked for their position.
When we arrived hunting guide Richard Saunders rode up on the 4-wheeler
and he and Blaine loaded the hog.
So far our group has taken 3 wild hogs on this Texas-S bowhunt. Rick
and I walked to a nearby swamp to see if I could make it 4.
