Day #2 (morning hunt)

Rick Rocks & Rolls ...
Rick Philippi and Jim Autrey left the bunk house a little after sunrise. Rick checked some of his favorite spots but the hogs were not bedded down yet.

He went to the East fence and moved into the woods 80 yards and slipped along parallel to the fence, looking for hogs. This time it didn't take long. A group of hogs was walking parallel to them about 100 yards away. Rick moved quietly but quickly to cut them off.

The hogs and the bowhunter converged on the same general area at the same time. A large black boar was in the group. It was rough looking, long haired, muddy, with big ears and noticeable white tusks. Rick was on him like stink on a skunk. Jim Autrey followed behind, filming the episode for the Texas Deer Hunter TV show. When 25 yards separated them Rick drew and aimed, the arrow went into the boars vitals and it ran forward, only to go down for good in 30 yards.

While Rick and Jim were hunting I was uploading at the ranch headquarters. They came back and got me to take pictures, one of which is above, and now it is my turn at skulking the brush for the wild hogs for the video camera. More ...

The Last Video Hunt
The quickest way to describe my video hunt today is to tell it like it is and say we got up on a few younger ones but didn't get into any action on mature hogs. It was plenty hot enough out there in the hog woods. We returned to camp at straight up noon. This was the last huint that Jim Autrey could cover on video for his TV show Texas Deer Hunter, he had business to attend to back in his real life, so he packed his gear in his pickup and headed for his office.

Rick and I drove into Clarksville and ate lunch at Tracey's Cafe again. I was super thursty and drank an entire picture of ice water. We returned to camp and Rick took a nap. I updated the web site and dozed off until 4:30pm.
