| DAY 6
Randall Sutton
Randall arrived mid week
with his friend Lex Place. On one of his hunts he saw a buck that I had
taken a picture of, a fairly wide 4 point without any brow tines -- an
obvious cull buck.
He asked Billy Don if he
could take this buck if he got the chance. Bill Don looked at my picture
and said, "yes."
On the last morning of Randall's
hunt {today} the cull 4-point came in bow range of Randall's treestand.
Randall made a perfect shot and the buck went down quickly.

Tyge Floyd - Creating Agressive Behavior
"This is one I'm going to
add to my arsenal," said Tyge Floyd as he told me what happened when he
used Trails End #307 and Key Wicks from Wildlife Research Center.
Last weekend Tyge used the
Trails End #307 on 4 Key-Wicks -- He set them up in a semi circle
(like it says to do on the bottle) 15 to 20 yards away from his tree North
Starr Treestands ladder stand. The wicks were head high, so a buck could
smell them if they wanted.
A six point and a wide 8
point came in on a trail directly downwind from Tyge. The 6 point made
a scrape directly under one of the Key-Wicks -- 15 yards from Tyge. Then
the 8 point worked the scrape. The bucks stayed in the area -- still downwind
-- and did not smell Tyge. The 8 point returned to the wick and put his
nose right on the KeyWicks and then worked the scrape and urinated in it.
Then its attitude towards the 6 point changed. He charged the 6 point and
in a few minutes charged it more aggressively and grunted at it. This time
the 6 point moved off.
This
morning Tyge set up 4 #307 laced Super Wicks before daylight. Two deer
appeared from downwind and Tyge heard a buck making a scrape. Then a spike
and an 8-point came out. When Tyge left he picked up the Wicks and the
scrape was under one of them.
"The Key-Wick comes in its
own zip loc bag," Tyge added. After I use them I put them back in the bag
and reseal them.
Yesterday morning Tyge saw
a 17 inch 9-point with very long tines. He wanted to shoot but there was
not enough light for a reliable shot. The buck and the opportunity passed
on by.
Mike Ditchler (Chef Klaus)
The Chef wanted t hunt
all day. He phoned in that he had shot a buck. Mike had seen two bucks
coming along the edge of the woods toward the the small clearing he was
hunting. He decided to shoot if they gave him the chance.
They entered the opening
together and Mike could not shoot without the risk of hitting both of them.
But when they separated Mike was ready. He drew and shot the widest buck.
Mike continued to hunt and
Billy Don tracked the buck. He found it laying in the water of a small
creek.
