| DAY 3 - Dave & George Tague
Dave Tague
Dave arrived mid day on
Sunday with his dad George. They had a short hunt as sat together in a
Double Bull blind.
Two gobblers walked by and
George got a shot at this one ... but missed it.
They also saw a wild hog
that smelled them and ran away.
The next day Dave was in
a ladder stand at daylight. A buck and 2 does came into the area right
after he got in the stand. As the sun came up he saw the buck clearly.
It was an 8 pointer and considerably larger than the e deer it was with.
Dave decided to shoot if
it gave him the opportunity. At 7:35 it turned broadside at 10 yards. Dave
took the shot and double lunged the buck. It ran into the thick woods to
the right. Dave heard it crash and knew it had gone down.
Dave is red color blind and
couldn't find any blood. But when Blake Van Cleave and Clint Carpenter
arrived they quickly found a steady, no problem blood trail. This was Dave's
first buck with a bow.

On the evening hunt Dave
saw 40 or 50 wild turkeys, two bucks, 10 does and a dozen wild hogs. He
wanted a wild turkey Tom but could not get an opportunity.
George Tague hunted
with us last year. He got a nice 10 point buck and one wild hog. He also
wanted a wild turkey gobbler and fell prey to the "turkey curse." He saw
several but didn't get a shot opportunity.
On Tuesday morning George
was in a Double Bull blind on a Power Line. Nothing moved until after 9:00.
A lone brown and white hog came to the feeder. Five minutes later a "whole
bunch" came down the same trail.
George picked the largest,
a black boar and made a 21 yard shot low and behind the shoulder. George
got right on the trail. He found his arrow and a good blood trail. Clint
(a guide) and Roy Keefer drove up and they took up the trail. It was a
steady trail and they recovered the hog easily.
