The "Beamer" Mock Scrapes Up A Buck

Keith and the Duck were at it again this afternoon. They moved the Double Bull blind to a new location and brushed it in. Then Keith made a mock scrape under a limb 20 yards away, using the MOON FIRE deer lure (from Wild Life Research). Then Keith hooked a Super Wick on a limb above the scrape.

A few hours passed, some hogs had come in, but Keith was waiting for a buck. Right at sunset a buck jumped a fence 200 yards away. Keith glassed it and realized it was a good 8-point.

The buck came down the sandero towards the hunters. It caught wind of the scrape and wick "like a bird dog on point" and went right to it. When he was 4 feet from it the buck started "breathing it in heavy ." Keith checked with Don to make sure he was ready on the video. He was. Keith planted his sight pin on the buck's front shoulder.

Again, the arrow zipped through the net striking home. The buck wheeled and bolted 40 yards East, collided with a fence, flipped over the top strand, and was done.

Keith Comments On The Hunt
"During this hunt I saw an amazing amount of game. Deer, wild turkey, wild hogs, black buck, aoudad  and rams frequent the hunting setups. I brought a book to read and only read 30 some pages, there was too much action to read. Wild Horse Prairie Ranch is a place everyone who enjoys a 'target rich environment' should visit."
