Wade Nolan's Writing Camp And Whitetail Bowhunt! First Mornings Hunt - Scott Alread Starts It off...
Tuesday Morning: Arrived at the stand just after daybreak with one of the Ban None guides. In short order he had seen 17 quality bucks. Since this was a management hunt it took some time for a managament type buck to show up. Once they had spotted it in the brush walking along a dry creek bed. It took 15 minutes before the buck worked its way close to the treestand. Scott could tell it was going to happen when he range findered the buck at "the magic 22 yard mark." Scott came to full draw and made a clean heart kill shot. The buck dissapeared into
the trees at 30 yards. Scott waited 30 minutes and got down. The blood
trail was strong and 10 yards into the tree line they saw the 9 point buck.
Scott is the Product Marketing Manager for Bear and Jennings Archery. His number one focus is product development and "continuing the stong legacy of product innovation that the brands are known for." The companies are now owned by Escalade Sports and the staff at Escalade protects their intellectual properties, the single cam patent and compression molding limb process that are exclusive to Bear and Jennings. Escalade has identified the archery/outdoor division as one with their divisions with the most growth potential and allocates a high level of resource to Bear and Jennings. Scott is officed in Evansville, Indiana at the Escalade corporate office. Gainesville, Florida is still the home to all manufacturing for the archery products for both brands. Scott was recruited by Escalade Sports 3 years ago just prior to their purchase of the archery companies. Scott told me, "Both Bear and Jennings compeleted the strongest selling ATA Show in recent years delivering to our customers innovative parallel limb designs utilizing single cam technology at the key retail price points of $299, $399 and $499 positioning us as the only brands making compression molded, parrallel limb design bows at these price points. Compression molding is an exclusive patented process for bow limbs. We do it all ourselves in Gainesville, Florida. last year we shipped 45,000 bows with this technology and our total limb issues and or defects were under 1%. That is very unusual in archery. Because we own the patents and do it in house we can give our customers the same limbs and technology that is on the $500-$700 bows. There is a generation of bowhunters that don't know what Fred Bear meant to this industry. But fortunately we have personnel that worked with Fred and still put the same level of quality and care into every product -- as Fred would want us to do." Neil Byce III is the Operation Manager of our Gainesville, Flotida factory. He was taught by Fred Bear how to hand craft and tune the recurves, take downs, and longbows that were so near and dear to Fred's heart. That is a huge factor to have that influence touching all the modern products we design and produce in Gainesville today.
