Bowhunt For Wild Hogs @ Texas "S"
July 5 - Day #1, Part #2 MORNING HUNT: Continued

The hogs walked back from the water's edge and joined another group of hogs farther back in the woods. I stayed put, not wanting to pressure them. Great ... I got lucky. The hogs began walking in Rick's direction and I followed them at a slow pace. In time the hogs were passing through the area where I had left Rick. I heard Rick shoot. And all the hogs ran toward the area with the boulders. Merle Smith, the owner of Texas-S, had given us each a walkie talkie and we radioed him. Merle asked where we were and said he was on his way. Rick's arrow was sticking in the ground and I looked it over. It was bloody end to end. (We left the arrow right where it was, just in case we needed it for reference later on.) Merle Smith drove up on his
4 Wheeler.
The time was 12:26. Things were happening fast today. We loaded the boar on Merle's 4 wheeler and returned to camp to give the hogs, and us, a break. Rick and I drove into Clarksville and ate a the Italian Bistro on the town square. We both had the daily special and it was outstanding. After lunch we returned to Texas-S and got ready for the afternoon hunt. Now it was my turn to hunt and Rick's to take pictures. (Continued...)
